Just lots of little beats that were obviously from OG Star Wars but were also used in Spaceballs, like all of searching for the prisoner and blasting away, using dead hands to get into rooms, or scanning for an exit and then blasting to plaid. Of course Spaceballs IS one of the movies I was talking about earlier that I can recite from memory, so it’s not surprising that my brain goes there, lol.

It’s always been one of my favorite comedies, even from back when I first saw it and I was too young to get all of the jokes but just thought it was so cool/funny that a whole movie got made that was just parodying Star Wars

The real secret is that it’s actually just It Happened One Night in space, which cracks me up even more than the SW stuff. Only Mel could make things so blatant while also being completely original and memorable.
