There’s at least one thing that you learn in it that is just said here as if you already know.

nah that wouldn't have had the intended effect of including the audience in understanding Groot. if they were going to do it at all this was the way, it just felt a little off. I know Vin Diesel voices Groot but I don't think Groot ever sounded just like Vin Diesel until that moment haha.

no I never saw it and there was just a couple easter eggs I was like I know that's from the special but I don't know what it was, Cosmo is pretty self explanatory

There is a familial connection that will feel out of nowhere without the Christmas special. Which isn’t to say it is required viewing, but knowing that going in is probably a good thing.

I can't speak for the 3D since I saw it in 2D but in general I definitely felt the IMAX was worth it! The big format for the video definitely paid off and I really enjoyed the pumped up audio/soundtrack.

this was pretty great, a couple weird/off moments and Warlock was a waste of time but most of it landed really well. balanced the tones a whole lot better than Vol 2 and just pretended that Christmas special didn't exist which I'm all for. surprised Marvel let him get away with some of the stuff in here, dude really came back to negotiate with all the cards lmao

I saw it in 3D, it doesn't really add anything and I definitely get some eye strain watching a 3d movie for that long

I think you could cut Warlock from this entirely and change almost nothing for the worse. that said the King Crimson line was so perfect, I don't think anyone else in my theatre got that but I loved it

also want to add I really appreciate that this movie remembered Karen Gillan is incredibly funny. perfect use of her talents in this, she very nearly stole the show but this was Cooper's movie. that scream when the thing happened in his backstory fucking shook me

I think removing him would make the whole thing worse lol.

Totally agree. Pratt was great in the first one because it played to his strengths of being goofy and charming, which this does a little. I don’t think he looked as checked out as he did during the holiday special, I just don’t think he’s a good dramatic actor at all.

I thought it was funny that he essentially said “let’s save our friend” *scene chane* like 5 times

Whilst he may not have been in it as much as many would have liked, I’m glad Adam Warlock was still in it. Felt much more like a small introduction to the character than anything else, so didn’t need to be in it too much. Some great comedic moments, looked great in the fight scenes, nice little redemption bit when he saved Quill. A good intro IMO.

I thought everyone nailed it with the acting here.. even Pratt. My theater gasped and clapped at the Groot line. I thought he was gonna leave the Zune behind in order to have a reason to go back to earth for more music. Interested to see what we get from these characters in the future

I’m guessing we’ll get Star-Lord on the Avengers as one of the few Legacy heroes on Earth.

I saw this today. I laughed, I cried, I cringed. Fucking brilliant closure to the trilogy. Loved every minute of it.

Two things to add that no one else has said yet:

High Evolutionary is, IMO, the most disturbing, fucked up, and straight up detestable villain that the MCU has ever produced, and it was super cathartic when the Guardians kicked his ass.

I'm also glad that they didn't completely reconnect Gamora to the Guardians, but left things in a good enough place where they could build on that if they wanted to.

Loved the moment when she replied to Groot and realized she understood what he was saying. And there were a couple moments with her and Quill that were touching.

Anyway, I'm kind of sad now if Batista is truly done with the franchise as I'd love to see what happens to him and Nebula and the kids.
