Another gag that had me in tears laughing was the hyperspace jump , face/eyeball warping with Rocket and Yondu being like 'whoooAAAhhhAaaHHH"

Saw it this morning (hell yeah 8:30am showings) and loved every part of it. I don't have anything new to add right now other than to say this series is far and away my favorite part of the MCU.

Also idk man but I'm now pretty stoked for Thor Ragnarok thanks to the trailer.

  4. How great is it that this movie confirms Stan Lee has been playing the same character in all his MCU cameos. He's not an actual Watcher like people were theorizing, but being a Watcher's Informant is still cool.

It's more likely that they didn't have a plan for it and it was just an easter egg. I wouldn't think too much about it.

This is at least upper mid-tier MCU for me. That scene with Yondu and Rocket destroying all those guys otherworldly

Yeah this movie, visually, is the most stunning movie in the MCU. I'd say there were more story "issues", and less of the jokes landed. But, overall, the emotional parts hit just as hard, the action scenes were stellar, and Yondu's arc was the most interesting part of this whole movie.

Can't wait to see this again. Also, this is a must see in IMAX 3D if anyone is questioning it.

After sitting on this for a few hours it's still a fantastic film. Lots of random thoughts with spoiler tags just to be safe! (I also have way more thoughts but these are the ones that jumped to mind first)

I absolutely loved the use of color throughout the film. It's always been my biggest complaint about some of these huge budget films so I was thrilled so see so much of the spectrum (especially in the opening sequence and during the space-jumping).

The emotion-heavy scenes felt totally deserved and I can't remember ever tearing up this much during any Marvel film. I went to see it with my mom and she said the Gamora-Nebula stuff was especially hard hitting for her after losing her sister.

Kurt Russell was fantastic. My initial thought is that he acted the shit out of the film, especially his unraveling when it comes to explanining his complete history. It even made Pratt a better actor.

The dynamic between Yondu/Rocket hit way close to home.

I enjoyed the soundtrack way better than the first (which I didn't hate!). Cat Stevens always gets me.

As much as I liked baby Groot, one of the things that made me like the first film more was adult Groot. I found him funnier and more enjoyable to watch. Also no Groot moment in this worked for me as much as the ABC dance at the end of the first.

Adult Groot is still probably my favorite character between the two films, but I think I still like the new one more for everyone else.

And, I still loved Baby Groot in this. I just think Groot is the one character I liked less. But, when you have an ensemble this strong, you can get away with that.

Listened to Common's Dreamer album after watching GotG2. It's the first thing I think of when I hear blue skies.

    That and breaking bad.

If you can, hit up a comic shop today for Free Comic Book Day! Marvel has a free "All New Guardians of the Galaxy" comic that also has a Defenders story. (If you don't know where your local shop is, you can find one here.)

Also, in case you missed it, here are some comic recommendations:

Obviously I said I liked it but I really wanna talk about it more.

I think this one was miles better than the 1st one which I loved. I felt like they cut the screen time of all the characters perfectly in this one.

I felt like this one was a lot funnier as well, even though some jokes just didn't seem to land I still think it was way funnier.

I loved the fight sequences, I truly don't think they could've been better.

The intro credits were the best I've ever seen in a movie haha

I literally gasped at The Watcher Stan Lee cameo and I truly hope that this sets up something Original Sin.

I loved the original Guardians reference.

I really think 2017 has the potential to be the MCUs best year to date. Ragnorak has to hit and then Spiderman which I have so much faith in, it's actually gonna hurt me if it flops lol

Gonna go see this again today, feel like seeing this in 3D is an experience I need.

I honestly still can't believe a Disney/Marvel film has the main character transform into Pacman in the middle of its final fight and I can't get over it.

That and the Ego transformation/credits were the best.

I thought it was just ok. The story was kind of a mess especially in the first half and the humor was trying too hard and derailed the movie in quite a few places. It works great when it's natural like the opening credits, but kills the momentum when it doesn't land like Nebula and the fruit or the tape thing and it's becoming pretty common with Marvel movies unfortunately. I will say the characters and the themes were both amazing so I definitely enjoyed seeing it, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna feel the need to ever revisit it.
