Can @SpyKi or anyone else who's already seen the movie tell me how the villain was in this? That was the only problem I had w/ the first one, as well as a tiny bit of dragging in the first half

Also, I wouldn't get too concerned with RT. That 85 means most of those reviewers liked it at least just enough. If anything you should (if anything at all) just go with a handful of critics that you trust and don't worry about the rest

I think it's definitely better/more interesting than the first in terms of the villain.

I also don't think there's really any dragging but I didn't feel any in the first either.

Just something I've noticed on repeat viewings. Not a lot of it though

Why doesn't Marvel ever want to highlight villains with their MCU films. Is it a marketing thing?

Highlight in what way? I definitely feel like it's for the best that the villain in this isn't in any trailers/promo stuff.

Why? I mean, I don't even know who the villain is in this movie.

No one remembers TDK for Batman.

It just makes sense for this film not to know who the main villain is. I wish more films had a bit more restraint with trailers. Most of the trailers I've seen from this have been from the first 10 minutes or so of the film.

I feel like they'll have a lot of Thanos promo for Infinity War.

While I had problems with this (mainly with pacing and it feeling overstuffed), I wouldn't say it's more of the same and the villain is loads better than the first. It's also weird/cool seeing Gunn being able to channel his old Troma influences into a huge movie like this.

    Disney are being dicks.

This is a FB post from my local drive-in theatre. I bolded the important part.

One of the hardest parts of running a business is making tough decisions, even decisions you don't necessarily want to make, yet they still have to made. Over the past several days, we have been in ongoing discussions, through our movie buying agent, with Walt Disney Pictures on playing their new superhero movie coming out on May 5, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Unfortunately, we were not able to come to an agreement on a deal which we felt was fair, on the basis of industry standards and precedents. To summarize, the deal being offered to us as "take it or leave it" was the highest percentage of ticket sales that we have ever been asked to pay for any previous movie from any other studio, and would have set a terrible precedent for future negotiations on other movies with other studios. It would also have resulted in higher movie rental fees, which would lead directly to higher ticket prices for our customers.

As if that was not bad enough, they were also demanding that we show Beauty and the Beast as a co-feature on the first week, a movie that we have already been showing for seven straight weeks, and then on the second and third weeks we would be forced to show their nature documentary, Born In China, as the co-feature. Due to these unreasonable demands that only come from one studio, Walt Disney Pictures, we are regretfully passing on the opportunity to show this movie during its opening few weeks. We do, however, expect that it will be available to play later in the month as a co-feature, to show with the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which opens on May 26, in case you are willing to wait that long to see it, or would like to see it again.

We are in this business to show the best new movies, so it is painful for us to have to make this difficult decision, which we have been struggling with ourselves over for the past several days. However, we have come to the harsh conclusion that it is in the best long-term interests of our drive-in theatre, and for our customers, to decline showing a new movie when a studio's terms or demands are unprecedented and unfair. Thank you for your continued support of our drive-in theatre, and we look forward to showing more exciting new movies for many years to come.

Yeah, that's terrible. When it comes to drive-ins, Disney's been historically awful.

Saw this yesterday and it was a solid and fun affair albeit despite the flaws that the film had. The three things that worked so well in the last film are as strong as ever with the humour, interaction between the main characters and the soundtrack being excellent.

There is no possible way you could not enjoy this movie if you enjoyed the first. I loved it.

Movie comes out tomorrow in my area, but I still have to wait a week to watch it for myself.

I'm avoiding reviews, and spoilers because I want this movie to be fresh (Although, I did come across a few major spoilers thanks to how lame the internet can be; such as who the villain is, and other minor things, but I'm still going to try avoiding more spoilers and reviews).

Just got back from it, and loved it as well. I think it's right up there with the first movie, maybe even better.

The stakes didn't feel as high, but the chemistry between the characters was amazing and I didn't feel like there was any filler at all. The "villain" was great, and actually was a difficult character to put a finger on. D.B. is a natural with comedic acting too, it's almost parallel with The Rock.
