I managed to snag a spare for Wembley the other day after seeing them in Manchester and both times thought it flew by! They're better than ever live, it was a treat. The Saviors songs are so good live.

Rock music never captivated him a huge amount until 21st Century came out and he just really loves that record. I think it’s nostalgia.

I think Know Your Enemy is a fine song and I really enjoy the callback on Restless Heart Syndrome.

Looks like they still do the audience participation bit for Know Your Enemy as well, wonder if that plays a factor

Re listened to the song today for the first time in a while and yeah it’s fine, I shouldn’t shit on it too much I just think it’s repetitive. But ya know I’m a person who maintains their run from 91-04 is the greatest of any pop punk/ punk adjacent band of all time so I just wish that slot could be for something from that timeframe (outside of dookie/AI obviously). I’m just being old and needy lol

Listened through the entire trilogy this weekend while working out (Uno and Dos are good for cardio y'all!) I really enjoyed it but I still think it's simply not diverse and/or experimental enough to be 3 albums. The best point of comparison I have is RHCP's "Stadium Arcadium" which, while being only 2 albums, is still about the same running time. Both these projects hone in on what each band does best but doesn't really stretch out too much and therefor, it gets a bit tiring by the time you get to the back half. That being said, some A-list Green Day on there for sure (99 Revolutions, Stay The Night, Stop When The Red Lights Flast, Let Yourself Go, X-Kid, Ashley, etc)

I listened to Stadium Arcadium last week for the first time in forever, and that album sucks. I honestly think the hit rate is worse than the trilogy.

When I saw them in 2010 I was 14 and it literally changed my life - I credit that show with getting me as into music as I am today, so I also consider that the best concert I've ever been to.

I've also seen them on every tour since then and they're always amazing, but the first night of the Saviors tour tonight was easily the best one since that 2010 show. Holy shit, the setlist was flawless, they sounded absolutely amazing and the stage production was so cool. I never thought I would hear some of those AI songs live... that's my favorite album ever recorded and getting to hear the whole thing in full was so meaningful to me

I was also in my teens for my first Green Day show (though 10 years earlier than you haha) and I agree w the sentiment that show got me into live music as well…my taste in music has definitely shifted away from GD and the hellamega tour was a huge let down to me (a mix of lack of energy during a post Covid and the same stale setlist for the last 15 years) but seeing they played nearly 40 (!) songs tonight is pretty incredible and may get me back out there

That album has most of my favorite RHCP songs. I also think that album is John Frusciante's masterpiece as it relates to guitar.

Took me years to appreciate the full double LP, but these days I'd put it in the top 3 in my ranking.

To each their own. I’d struggle to make a list of 12 songs on it that I think are good, and maybe two of those are all-time great RHCP songs for me. It doesn’t help that the singles from it are way worse than the singles from the previous two albums.

By the Way is Frusciante’s best, imo, but that’s almost more because of what he’s doing with vocal harmonies than because of guitar.

It's not as good as Californication or By The Way but it's decently close enough, it may suffer from being a bit too long and sure, a few of those songs could have been cut (most of which are Disc B latter half), but overall I enjoy it a ton and I think the singles were very good.

You don't like Wet Sand? Snow?

Wet Sand is great. Snow is a cool guitar part and a decent verse packaged with a pretty bad chorus.

haha I wasn’t saying it in anger I was just wondering where it started from…but as long as we’re talking about other bands in this thread were worthy of some mockery …I’m really disappointed in Blink who is constantly compared w GD and this summer playing same sized venues charging about the same price and yet only plays for 90 mins…ok now can go back to the RHCP mockery if you must

No wait, let's explore this strange new byway.

Isn't 90 minutes generally an average runtime for a headline set?
