I got most of Rivers covering Sugar, We're Going Down, transitioning into Island in the Sun. It was so cool to see them & The Interrupters at least try to create some happiness out of a bad situation

Being in the pit section, I can't even imagine what it was like being in the seats, especially in the stadium. It would feel completely disconnected. I'd love to know more about what happened in the FOB camp. I assume it was one of the band members that tested positive as I can't imagine they'd cancel if, like, the lighting guy tested positive.

Why not? If the bands are truly in “bubbles” (which is of course BS because the crews crossover during changeover), one positive person on the band’s team puts the entire team at risk. Could be any techie, lighting/sound, a tour manager, PA, or one of the band members. The band members are probably the most secluded and least likely to interact with others, unless they of course caught it from actually being on stage and having all those germs aimed right at them.

I’m sure this tour had this preventative plan in place prior to the start and this was the plan if any of the bands’ teams ran into this issue.

obviously I feel like if it were from GD’s team then the show would be postponed. I feel like NYC and Boston weren’t postponed because the stage was already set and that takes 2-3 days to build.

I want to believe that if one of the members was the one who tested positive they would cancel more than 2 dates. That's why I think it was one of their staff and they are making sure the band is negative before continuing the tour.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Legit question: What exactly would happen if a member of one of the bands tested positive? Would they have to enter a two week quarantine? At this point, would the band just have to drop from the tour?

TBH Im not sure, but they might have a plan for this situation. For sure the band would have to enter two week quarantine, which it leaves time to play the last dates of the tour.

At this point BIllie needs to stop pulling fans on stage, specially after the FOB situation. Its a cool gimmick but I really want to see this tour with all 4 bands

    Things have changed.

They did a very modified version of the fan gag last night where the person stayed on the catwalk the entire time. Billie Joe had to keep motioning for them to stay out there and not come closer to the main part of the stage.

I just saw the video that Now:Navigate posted. Billie looks so scared every time the guy comes close to him.
Did he keep the guitar like on the other dates?

In Jacksonville he pointed at the guitar and shooed the girl away without her playing anything.

Kind of lame that GD and Weezer didn’t play extended sets, while fans paid to see three headlining sets.

I understand the logistics around tour production and lighting being sequenced to a pre-determined set list, but is it really that hard to turn the stage lights on, throw up a generic band logo on the screens and play 2-3 more songs each?

Fenway has had other shows the last couple nights, so they won’t actually be doing any set up until today. If they’d wanted to cancel/postpone, they could’ve.

It seems like they knew this was a possibility and just didn’t really care enough/didn’t have a feasible to solution to acknowledge that people could still want to go and just not pay quite as much. It’s a shitty position for everyone.

They'll be reusing whatever stage is already there then.

Right. This is Fenway’s concert week, so there’s shows every night. The stage would be there whether they cancelled or not.

My friend got a call at 7:15 pm from Ticketmaster while we were at the show haha. I'm not one to defend Ticketmaster usually, but they probably had a REALLY shitty day yesterday trying to sort through an unprecedented situation.

Just personally confirmed the set times for tonight in Boston with the Fenway ticketing office.

    The Interrupters (6:00-6:45)
    Weezer (7:10-8:15)
    Green Day (8:50-10:30)

I'd imagine the stop times are tentative, particularly with Green Day given that pushes right up against curfew.

But the Interrupters getting an additional 15 is pretty awesome, from my perspective! And it looks like Weezer will be doing an additional 5 minutes or so while Green Day will probably be doing about the same (maybe another 5-10 minutes, depending on how much they want to push curfew).

The person I spoke to also said doors were still at 4, but I know other people have heard 5. So not sure about that.

Ironically, Green Day played the shortest set (timewise) I've ever see them play last night. Believe it was just over 90 min.

In Atlanta Billie Joe made a big deal about asking someone if they were vaccinated before coming up, interesting to see how that then morphed over the next few shows.

Should just kill the gag, COVID or not. They've been doing the exact same Knowledge gag for what 20 years now? Not to mention so many other bands do it too. Does anyone in the 40k+ ppl in attendance care about hearing Knowledge? No, I think everyone would rather hear one of the hits.

Maybe it was just me but last night was probably the most restrained/non theatrical Green Day performance I've seen. Agree that "Knowledge" should be dropped and they should add "Bang Bang" or "Father Of All". Other than that, I'm not sure if any hits were left out.

So many changes I would make to Green Day's set still. Like, you can axe some of the lesser hits for newer songs and make new magical moments with them.

That said, last night was extremely special and I could watch them play the same set a million times and be happy. I cried when they started playing. I'm so proud of them and it was incredible to see them playing a stadium in 2021. Billie Joe really showed a masterful display of crowd control on a ridiculous level. I love them so much.

The most puzzling to me was opening with American Idiot into Holiday, but then I have to stop myself and realize that I’ve never seen them open with it in person, only just from watching Bullet in a Bible 4,000 times

Been traveling to Boston all day so I just got to check my email - my connection at Fenway confirmed exactly this earlier today. He does have doors remaining at 4, too.
