what if the "joke" is, that we are supposed to put our own copy of Junkies into the spot where Material Control is, since GlassJaw don't have control over that material? lol
you have to admit it'd be a good spot for it.

Do glassjaw not own The Colour Green or Colouring Book? I thought they had gotten off the label before that.

I actually really like the title track

Which doesn't come as much of a surprise considering how much I've been talking about Junkies on it

I wouldnt hate it as much if it didnt fade out. Such a dumb choice. If it doesnt flow into the next track just get rid of it. Its a rehashed riff, and doesnt add anything to the album

This album is absolutely fucking relentless and I’m starting to love it
I’ve heard Beck just hates playing it bc the chord shapes hurt his hands

I just tried learning the opening riff to junkies and I hat to put it down after like 10 minutes because my entire hand feels like it's on fire, so I can see this being the reason.

How are you playing it? I play it and it isn’t bad. Maybe i just have bigger hands but i really doubt it haha

I tried doing it like in a youtube video I found, maybe it was my posture though, I don't do tapping stuff a lot so the upper side of my hand starts hurting when I do it for too long.

Actually i do remember when i first learned that song thinking that it was a lot of work for my left hand because you’re doing the left hand tapping with your pinky while your index finger is staying in place. So yeah i take it back, moving your pinky like that is weird at first.

I really hate the production/mix of the album, but the songs are good. Doesn’t touch Worship and Tribute for me.

This album is really great. Can’t believe Glassjaw fans could be unhappy. 9.5/10 for me.

This is only growing on me more. Easily one of my top albums of the past couple years... only other one I've loved on a similar level was Moon Shaped Pool, I think. Having just hit 30, it's increasingly rare for me to get this rush of excitement over new music, so I've gotta savor it when it happens.

Also, I think @Cameron hit the nail on the head earlier responding to the "it all blends together" stuff. It's kind of true, but in the best way possible, like a great prog record. There are themes and motifs and sequences of songs that work together constructively. W&T was much more diverse, but for me personally, this is the blueprint for most of my favorite records (think Kid A or AEnima)... hone in on a niche sound and explore the shit out of it until you've exhausted every twist and turn it can take. Cohesion and atmosphere can more than make up for lack of diversity, IMO. I'm not saying this is better than W&T, but I haven't ruled it out yet. I think the production, plus the feeling that some of these tracks are short just cause they were rushed in the studio, might be the only things holding me back.

Oh, and one other thing... surely no one believes these songs were really all written in the studio over a couple weekends. We know at least one of them dates back to 2001, and I'd bet anything the majority of these have been marinating for quite a few years. Not even Beck and Daryl are genius enough to weave all these abstractly-interlocking melodic parts together without a serious time investment.
