I have a kind of have Bonapartist thinking sometimes, so personally I think trying to radicalize as many active 19 year old enlisted as possible would probably have a better overall benefit than telling them they deserve to die.

Carnation Revoluton, Portugal, 1974 just saying.

Ahhh that's right Colorado is the main place they're out of that's right. I remember when I was living in FL there was talk of the HQ being there but it got moved to CO. I remember now.

They have launch bases near Cape Canaveral and in California where they launch military satellites into orbit from (and supposedly secret anti-satellite missiles) but they're all controlled from bases in Colorado.

I think Space Force also has a small satellite tracking base in Greenland too.

I’ve never wanted to vandalize a car more in my entire life. I won’t. There’s probably cameras in the area.

Yeah it makes sense for the ones in the coast and I had to look it up, but besides Peterson I had no idea there was that much located in CO! 3? I've known people who retired and settled down in CO but didn't realize they had that many bases there.

i just wanna reiterate, nobody has told anyone they deserve to die, especially as a political strategy. we just have not shown concern for those who do or view it positively.

think it's best i ask here, sorry to go off topic: i've been hearing a lot of comparatively positive things about the novavax vaccine over pfizer/moderna. particularly that it has less side effects and is better for combatting the current covid strain/variants. after reading a bunch of tweets and articles, i eventually got a response with my doctor (who message me on one of those patient portal things. i didn't even speak to him first) where he said there is no way to tell if the efficacy of novavax is notably better, given that everyone had different infections and combinations of different vaccinations. i mainly want to make sure i make the best possible decision before i bite the bullet again (and i would've gotten one by now if i wasn't exposed last july and hopefully still have some antibodies). did david or someone else have background info on any of this?

thanks to anyone who can help, at least potentially

Apropos of nothing, I just remembered that I saw a guy pushing a stroller with his wife the other day and he was wearing a hat that said “dad in the streets daddy in the sheets”

Doctor is right to say that, definitively, it's really hard to make a declarative statement that Novavax is better or will protect you better, for all the reasons the doc laid out, especially the part about different infections and different combos of vaccines.

The reasons why some people theorize it could be better overall that i've seen include
-It's antibodies seem to last a little longer
-The type of antibodies created, Michael Lin I've seen post about this alot:

-This Novavax booster is for Jn.1, which all these other sublineages that are prevalent right now come from Jn.1, so there's some thought that a Jn.1 booster is going to be better at combatting the current dominant strain (K.3, soon to be XEC) than the pfizer/moderna ones that are specified to k.2

And yes it also tends to have less side effects and all that.

I think I've posted this in here before, but there was a time in my life (18-20ish y/o) where I seriously contemplated enlisting to pay for college because at the time, it was otherwise unattainable. I ultimately decided against it as I learned more about foreign policy and just how shitty the military is. I'm also privileged enough to have had resources available to me to formulate my opinion on this. I do understand that it's a real problem for lower-educated, and poorer socioeconomic kids to get trapped into this situation, which is by-design of course, gutting our public education system, which is a whole other thing.

The easiest way to end predatory military recruitment is by making higher education either free, or very, very affordable, and passing Medicare-for-all. Those are the biggest carrots the military dangles in front of civilians, their enlistment numbers would crumble, which is the part of the reason why they won't do it :)

really appreciate it. can we assume that k.2 is on its way out while k.3 continues prevalence into 2025?

Yeah for sure. KP.3 is currently dominating but giving ground to XEC. The interesting thing about XEC is that it actually isn't very different spike protein wise but instead has a mutation elsewhere, as Topol points out here (disclaimer: I have almost ZERO idea what an "n terminal domain" is, just htat I've seen all the virology nerds talking about how unusual it is to see this happen and give this variant a growth advantage over the others, as that has not happened with covid at any other point over the last 4 years)

Why Novavax: Choosing the Tortoise Over the Hare

Also here's a longer write up (I think from the same Michael Lin I referenced earlier) that I think does a decent job taking all this technical medical jargon and making it a little bit more digestable/understandable, especially on that whole Ig3/ig4 antibodies thing
