I haven’t seen that since it came out and in the recent healthcare discussion, people continue to blame Obama for making healthcare worse and they romanticized how healthcare was sooooo affordable before that but Michael Moore made a whole movie how fucked the industry was that came out before Obama even became president. Also for the record I haven’t paid any attention to Moore in the years since, that was my naive liberal phase in college.

 

If she does anything good in her position, a throwaway line from a campaign that didn’t ideologically tie her to anything or any policy position on Israel isn’t going to mean much. Like her saying that during a campaign for another candidate doesn’t really move the needle in either direction. In fact, Harris losing probably insulates her further from any potential fall out because now we won’t see what happens with Israel under a Harris admin. Far more likely that her comment becomes more meaningful if Harris won and then didn’t change anything from Biden’s policy, IMO.

My girlfriend who has been a lifelong liberal Democrat who worked on Obama’s re-election campaign and proudly voted for Biden in 2020 and Harris this year, she was quite disgusted to learn Biden pardoned the judge who took money sending kids to private prisons.

It’s the biggest speech of her career, and she could have used it - or the offer of it - to make a point that would have at minimum been morally the right one to make rather than lying to shepherd some of her supporters to the right. It could have also made more apparent the desperate need for the Dems to meaningfully address the genocide they’re doing, which seemingly would have benefited them in the election too.

If she will lie on behalf of the people doing genocide to maybe advance within the Party, why should any of us have faith that she will use this position to do good things and not just follow the party line yet again so that she can continue to maybe advance? New boss, old boss, etc.
