If that’s how you feel, doesn’t an honest assessment of why North Korea is in the position it is require context? I can’t speak for Nate & Wharf, but i just find it hard to make an honest assessment of North Korea as a country when it has been sanctioned and isolated to oblivion. The US basically stripped the northern half of that peninsula down to nothing during the Korean War while murdering a significant amount of the civilian population. it’s not even comparable to Cuba in terms of its starting point out from under imperialism. What would you or I do differently and better than what they’re currently doing?

I don’t know if it was a mix of schooling and media but my perception of unions was that they are corrupt and worse for workers until I was in my 20s

 

that's the fault of leadership, not because it heavily industrialized its agricultural sector during the 60-70s, in the less arable part of korea, making it very reliable on foreign inputs (ie. gas, fuel, machine parts), that it can no longer get due to the fall of the soviet union and sanctions.
