I guess i also don’t know how he’s defining it, but i think as someone just Walking Around on Planet Earth and having basic object permanence, obviously Obama was infinitely more successful in exciting the base and to think otherwise is to either A) outsmart one’s self or (more likely, imo) B) be trying to advance a cynical narrative. But beyond that, if someone really needs to see the numbers because they can’t trust their own gut, just look at voter turnout in cities, where Trump made modest gains from 2016 and 2020 while Harris took massive nosedives from those elections.

Maybe it’s possible Stancil views “the base” as your most dedicated supporters who likely would say they were more excited for whoever the Democrat had running heading into each Election Day because they’re clapping seals. To me though, this just feels like an extension of his logic on the economy and why the best politics would be to tell voters they’re wrong to feel like something is amiss. A level of cope i cannot comprehend, and I was a Bernie 2016/2020 guy.

Because people think of prisoners as "criminals" that are unredeemable to society. It's fucked up. They just write people off, as though they themselves could never possibly make a mistake (or be framed) and end up in prison.

 

One thing to take away from the Cenk stream yesterday: Cenk fucking hates Sam Seder and The Majority Report, like a lot.

Cenk also has this weird worldview where he says "there are 3 lefts. There is the corporate establishment left. There is the true economic populist left like myself and Ana. Then there is the online extreme identitarian left who think I am reactionary now"
