I used to genuinely think that Joe Biden was as semi-decent of a person as you could be while still rising to the level of the political offices that he's held, but seeing stuff like this that trump is going to do and then watching Joe Biden not do anything at all while just sorta making vague and ultimately empty gestures towards some stuff that he says he'd wanna see get done if only he had some type of power or authority, leads me to the only logical conclusion being that he's an evil motherfucker who is fine with almost all of this stuff but he wanted his side & him to stay in power a bit more than he wanted the other side to take over

I think the simple answer is democrats, by and large, think they should be playing by the same rules as they have for however many years and the media will hold them to those standards. The same is so clearly not true for the other side. And democrats care what the press writes about them. And to some degree I think their voters do too. That is so very not true about this Trump era.

Hiding behind "norms" is cowardly in the face "democracy is on the ballot."

It clearly looks like it’s about to be really bad. Granted, all the options were completely trash…but to sit there and do the self-righteous thing saying well all the options are baaaad was so dumb. One option was definitely worse than the other.

I feel like most of those people were self identifying anarachists/socialists that just want to see the country burn no matter what.

Truly scared for my trans friends right now.

and I argued with those people as much as anyone in here aside from probably David, and I don't want to speak for anyone else, but what I was hearing was people saying that the status quo was not fucking good enough any longer, that it never actually was to begin with, and the only way to protect marginalized people is actually showing solidarity with them and having a candidate & party that has even A FUCKING MODICUM of their interests at heart, rather than a candidate & party that sometimes pays them a little bit of lip service when they can be fucking bothered and then actively works against their interests all of the time

I was in on Harris / Walz, and even wanted one of those stupid fucking camo hats, but I also see now how settling for the lesser of two evils leads us to exactly where we were a week ago where our choice ends up being two slightly different shades of evil, both of whom are happy to keep the current system cruising along full speed because it a goddamn fucking gravy train for them, whichever party is in power at the moment

I also am truly terrified for your trans friends right now, and for immigrants in this country, and for homeless people, and for Palestinians, and for any kid in school, and for anyone struggling with substance use who is trying to access treatment, and for so, so many others

I know it's already been said, but we desperately need a party for people to vote for if they don't like Republican policies
