some of the effects of puberty are also non-reversible too

so rather than letting them choose a permanent decision about their bodies, with the help of medical experts... you'd rather make the decision for them???

This should only be able to pass if all churches also lose their nonprofit status.

I would rather let biology take its course rather than letting kids permanently alter their bodies. I have actually discussed this with a couple trans friends who agree (small sample. I know). One of them completely changed their beliefs on their body and sexuality between teenage years and adulthood. It's the same reason you can't get on certain medication until you're at least 18.

so if a kid has cancer should we also let "biology take its course" rather than permanently alterting their body?

Please tell me what non-reversible effects you’re referring to and why the alternative of forcing a child to go through the puberty of their assigned sex at birth is fine

tbf I don’t think the kids themselves make the decision, it’s usually some discussion with doctors and psychologists first to determine if puberty blockers are the best option

You’re really not giving me a reason to believe you know what puberty blockers do

To be honest that’s a little lower down my list right now, her living another 4 years wouldn’t be some crazy thing, and is probably way more likely than not knock on wood…but missing the chance to replace the two current worst justices and swing the court to 5-4 liberal just fucking sucks.

I really hope they’re both so far up their own asses that they don’t retire

A lot of jokes on Twitter of people saying "she is like your mom's weird friend" or "she like a tertiary one off Girls character", and it finally hit me of what MGP reminds me of personally:

She reminds me of the mid to late 30's ageing hipster middle managers I have had. She listens to Cat Power and Waxahachie, but will not blink in firing you if production standards are not met. She takes weekend trips to Brooklyn but will tell you to just suck it up if your workload suddenly increases. She had Broad City merch on her desk but will give you a passive aggressive reply if you ask for help on something in Hangouts.

thank you, been having a similar thought string in my head the last couple days but couldn’t articulate it.

Hillary’s half of them are in the basket of deplorables line continues to be possibly the only correct thing she’s ever said? Lol

My understanding is that there are some effects of puberty blockers which are not reversible. If I'm misinformed, please send me more info!

So you think being trans is the same as having cancer? That's a crazy jump...

Yeah, Sotomayor is 17 years younger than RBG was. She should still retire, but she's not like, very near-death age

I have also been thinking on something similar and not sure I am in a place to fully articulate it but it was something I noticed in the post election reporting. It has to do with education levels in the voting base and the fact that a majority of this country reads at a middle school level, then couple that with the lack of quality history education (partly due to the speed run that has to happen to get through all of it).

Using words like authoritarian, fascism don't resonate with middle age/younger people because they truly don't know what they mean. There is that video of Adin Ross where he is trying to figure out what fascism means.

This thinking was spurred by me reading this biography of J. Edgar Hoover and all the lynchings that took place around WW2, which I knew about but didn't fully understand how widespread it was. Which was a surprise to me as I am someone who reads a shit ton of history books. This is similar to my experience with watching The Watchmen and the Tulsa Race Riots.
