100%. My job is to cover city government and that is the easiest way to get a foot in the door to cause change.

The Kansas city council I cover was fairly right wing and they fucked things up. Some lib/left people with no government experience, but a good message, were able to use that and now can be a voice for others. A councilmember is now part of the Kansas legislature. As others have said, it takes small steps, but it makes all the difference.

This was the conversation we had with our kids (age 8) this morning and it helped me feel better.
