I’m not willing to call every Trump voter evil either, but what does it say about someone who votes for this? This isn’t a gotcha question. I don’t know a better term than at least morally dubious.

The polling on it all throughout 2023 was pretty bleak man lol, I guess you can say people weren't paying attention but it wasn't shifting.

It says they are feeling something painful or suffering or feeling unheard and neglected and left behind and there is one person offering them something vs the other person telling them to read a chart! It’s not far off from how religion, specifically American Christianity, preys on emotionally vulnerable people. It’s manipulative and wrong, but I don’t blame the person for being in that vulnerable state taking the first and/or only hand that reaches out to them

 

really, swapping Biden out for Kamala was unprecedented anyway, even if it seemed like the politically safest thing to do, so they absolutely had the opportunity there to do something democratic like oh I don't know a fucking primary or something

 

And this isn't even higher republican turnout really, Trump got less votes. More dems just stayed home. I don't blame them really.

only thing I would add is they not only didn't offer anything, they actively condescended to the people they needed to vote for them and told them that they were shitty people and acted like they didn't matter, which is now looking like a strange strategy tbh if your goal was to win the election
