I just got done negotiating a contract for over 400 public sector workers in Illinois that included 20%+ increases year one for every member, and 3% a year after that. So 30%+ over four years. Really proud of it! By the end of the contract (March 1, 2027) every member currently in the bargaining unit is on pace to be making over $50/hr. This includes a whole bunch of people who were only making $28.76 before the contract was ratified.

An annual raise of 3% is such a slap in the face now.

I am not sure what the general feeling on Hasan is in here, about he and Noah Kulwin (from Blowback) just did an interview with a pair of Israeli leftist Conscientious Objectors. Interesting conversation.

 

wow so I learned from that that the IDF is so embedded into every part of Israeli society that even most queer youth groups in Israel are a direct pipeline for military service with designated IDF "gender officers"

 

Hasan is alright with me in that he probably gets some teens interested in leftist stuff instead of all the other gaming channels out there

 

Hasan seems pretty level-headed and like a good starting point for people, but some of his takes are out of touch with reality. A few of his talking points seem to come from ideological standpoints rather than history, especially in his take on Taiwan and his beliefs on how Taiwanese view it.

But I can forgive him for that as I think he has come somewhat around to it after more discussions. He has also stated that he is "dogmatically" anti-US, which I think is vastly different from being merely opposed to the US and the way it functions. That may come off as a bit juvenile for someone for prefers more nuanced commentators.

 

Can confirm some teens do watch him and get politics takes from him. Been teaching AP Gov 4 years now and either at least one kid every year has brought him up or kids confirmed they knew who he was when I asked about him during our media lesson

Anyway my complaint about food recently is Kraft Mac and cheese. The cheese powder clumps up now. It didn’t use to do that.

 

As someone who lived on EasyMac through college, this saddens me.
