At least here, trader joe's is actually on par with the other mainline grocery stores. Just limited a bit in options and don't really get sales.

But like, I think their peanut butter cups are probably cheaper than a similar sized container of mini reece's at a normal store

 

Yeah TJ's is pretty cheap.

Trader Joseph's is for fun quirky things like cookie butter, peanut butter cups, flavored tofu, etc. It is not a place to purchase all of your groceries imo

 

I almost posted this same thing. Especially at less than $5 for a pound of them, it's a no-brainer.

 

Their produce goes bad before you leave the store

 

I literally buy all my groceries at Trader Joe's.

 

Ours nearby also does the 'overly friendly customer service' thing that Dutch Bros does too, but you can tell from the look in their eyes that they are being held hostage by some kind of dystopian middle level management

 

I rarely go to TJs but when I do I always stock up on their spices/seasoning blends

 

it is when its the closet grocery store that isn't a fancy co-op priced higher than whole foods

(can't get everything there. sometimes just gotta do a safeway delivery order. but I can get most stuff I need there)

 

great spices and marinades and also those almond windmill cookies slap

Besides being a strategic genius and who did some good well intentioned things as POTUS (he did some bad things too). Grant was also a very gullible dupe and who got scammed and swindled multiple times throughout his life. That negative attribute ultimately is what colored his presidency in scandal and tarnished his reputation for a long time.


I would never say any white guy who was president especially in the 19th century was a good or decent person, but U.S Grant is definitely the most fascinating character in American history IMO.

 

The Confederates had some quirky guys too. Apparently Stonewall Jackson was a massive hypochondriac who would almost never sit down because he thought sitting was bad for his stomach, he was constantly sucking on lemons, and he would always ride his horse with one harm held high up in the air because he though it was good for his blood circulation.

There are tons of essays from historians online speculating that he either had OCD or that he was on the Autism spectrum.

 

Yeah I make more than I did in 2019, but my rent is also $500 more per month than it was in 2019...

 

I make less (though, I did knowingly take a job that paid less but had a way better work/life balance, so that's on me) and my rent is more. I've still been able to save, but financials have been more stressful for sure.

 

I’m definitely making less in real wages because my pay scale is set and our contract for local only had 1.25 percent raises in it lol. We’re going out for a referendum this February so contract negotiations got pushed back.

we did get a state portion raise starting this year that’s supposed to be 9% over the next 3 years I think? So not quite catching us up to the inflation of the last couple years but close

 

I got rid of my car when I started WFH during Covid, and honestly now even though I make more than did then I would not be able to afford a both car and still live on my by myself on my own even if I wanted to now.

 

2.5-3% raises annually. Good to basically know I’m getting one guaranteed, bad to know it’s going to be meager.
