My doc told me this morning that after taking a sleep study, my sleep is pure shit and I need a CPAP. Anyone else on here have experience with that/sleep apnea?

 

lol I was supposed to do an in-lab sleep study tomorrow but they rescheduled it

did you do an at-home one? I did back in February and the results were basically "you're lucky to be alive"

 

Yeah, I did the thing where you put the ring around your finger. That was also the vibe I was getting from what my doc was saying (He didn't go into specifics, but said it was not good). This past month has been difficult with a ton of problems with my apartment and my brain fog has been off the charts. Guess that explains it!

 

man i don't think I've had a good night's sleep in my entire life. everyone i know that uses a cpap says it's a life-changer

 

Take this with a grain of salt and your own research, and ignore what you already know, but look into the brands and choose wisely. There is a huge lawsuit going on with one of the manufacturers as their CPAP machines were breaking down at the seals and basically doing more harm than good by blowing chemicals and components into peoples lungs. You have to know how to use them, clean them etc so they don't end up creating other problems.

I really should get on a sleep study (I have before - inconclusive as I didn't actually get enough sleep to test) but my symptoms have not gone away meaning it's time for another one.

This is sound advice

Take your time and shop until you find a mask with a good seal. If the seal is even slightly off it completely negates the function of the machine. The whole point of CPAP is positive airway pressure, if the seal has leaks you lose the positive pressure and your lungs try doing a mix of positive and negative pressure breathing which is almost more stressful than not having the CPAP at all.
