FedEx driver, unprompted, just asked me if I voted for Biden. I said yeah but I wasn't enthused about it.

He then said "oh my god, how could you not vote for Trump, he's the best we've ever had. For the first time in the history of the country we were oil independent" so I said well, there's a lot more to why I voted for Biden than just that one issue

He then said he thinks Biden will bow out of the election in November for Michael Obama (not a typo) to take his place but that that's wrong because "he/she/whatever" has no experience in politics.

I said, well neither did Trump, and his response was "yeah but he was a businessman, he didn't need the presidential salary, he did it for the right reasons"

I don't think I've ever had this driver pickup from me before. I usually have the same dude every time. The conversation literally went from "yeah I'll just open the trailer and you can put the pallet right inside, we don't even need to use the dock plate" to "did you vote for biden" lol

I was just trying to placate the dude and said that I voted for Bernie in the primary but he just said "oh my god" to that too

 

But in all honesty, if I was to give any advice it would be to practice and find satisfaction in small acts of kindness.

It’s your life, but life is rarely about you (or me). Life is also pretty damn hard and overwhelming for many people, a lot of whom can really get by with just one small and simple kindness thrown their way.

Of all the things you can actually control and produce, it’s the small, considerable moments that make impacts. While it can feel counterproductive or exhausting, knowing you’ve helped someone end their day with one good thought or emotion can become the one good thought or emotion you’ll have as well. At least, from my experience.

 

I didn’t realize my dad was moonlighting as a FedEx driver. Sorry about that.

 

I am just kidding, that was actually a really sweet sentiment that I can get behind.

 

Sever your sense of self-worth from your job. It's easier to deal with dumb shit when you have other things going on in your life.
Make light work for others, and surround yourself with people who do the same.
There will always be someone undeserving above you making more money and getting more praise. The sooner you can get over that, the happier you'll be overall.
