As someone who is largely a bystander in this thread, I think it's a safe assumption that we all agree that Trump is a horrible option and I've gathered that the majority of people here either support Harris as a contrast to Trump or view her as the same with a D in front of her name instead of an R (or worse, a war criminal).

For the latter who don't support her, we have an election in a little under two months. Assuming Stein and Claudia/Karina can't actually win and are pretty irrelevant to national politics (in that they don't have anywhere near the influence or support to really impact policy), what's the play here? It feels entirely futile and exhausting to keep screaming into the void that is a Blink 182 fan site; how do you otherwise effectively participate in the democratic process in a way that matters?

 

They're the ones doing the arguing. I've made my stance known. We all agree that genocide is bad. I'm voting Kamala. Pineapple on pizza itself is a travesty, unless it's pineapple and ham.

I don't hate Jill Stein, I'm just realistic that she's as much as viable candidate as I am. I'm anti-war, support universal healthcare, universal education, and worker rights. Unless you've got an actual path to accomplish these, they just feel like pie in the sky talking points that we have to somehow work up to. What's the solution?

I don't hate her I just think she's a waste of oxygen, a political cicada who's useless and only good for making fun of. She's not gonna accomplish anything in this election so she's literally useless.

But everything else you said is correct. While I don't agree with her justifications for appealing to the people on the right, I understand that she thinks it's for the best. There's a difference between the two. Will it play out is to be determined, do I hope it does? Yes. There appears to be momentum but there's still a while to go.

I think most of us engage in organizing and local politics, I think some participate in direct action. Which all appear to have a much bigger impact on these issues than getting a Democrat in power.
I’m still planning to vote for Kamala because Ohio is still theoretically in play I guess and I want to see Trump wither and die, but it’s a gross vote that feels complicit in genocide.

I think your questions are weak though. Demanding commitment before you give away your vote is doing something. So if you care about genocide, or the climate, or even policy things like universal health care but are voting for Kamala because of lesser evil stuff, what exactly are you all doing to further those things? Because NOTHING Kamala has said or done indicates any of those things will be be improved. So if we’re all voting for her anyway and she gets our vote regardless of her committing to help Israel murder and cause the suffering of Palestinians, or to increase oil and gas production, what are you going to do to help stop that?

 

How legit is UNRWA.org as a place to donate to? Where else have posters here been giving money?

 

I think the most important things to do is 1. Always vote in local elections. This at least gets you on the rolls as a voter who shows up and participates, and while local politics are also rotten, you're not voting for like a national Dem policy on Israel, you're voting for like, school funding and public services in your city or town or county haha and 2. If polls near election day show your state are within 5%, I would vote for the D candidate, given what the Republican party is these days. Though I readily admit I say that as someone who doesn't view my vote as an endorsement of everything a candidate does, and it seems that some do view it that way.

 

I've donated in the past. Gaza and much of the occupied territories is really dependent on foreign aid as part of its economy, Like it literally employs a huge part of Gaza from school teachers to janitors, etc.

That being said if you want to provide aid to people in Gaza directly maybe its not the best for helping them directly currently.

This means that, over a period of probably several years, Israeli assets sold pagers in Lebanon, which contained some kind of small explosive material, and then today all at once Mossad (probably) sent a command to all of them, causing all several thousand of them to explode at once. Crazy
