It’s sad to think about, but that is and will be America’s legacy. Like, that’s what our country was built on and has only gotten more efficient at.

Every election cycle without fail our candidates compete to show who is more pro Israel and pro fracking and there doesn’t seem to be anything we can do about it

I go back and forth on if a new third party option should work to organize mass strikes and ancillary protests, or if/how it should engage in electoral politics. It’s clear that there is no way to pressure or coerce these parties in the foreseeable future to do anything that the donor class is opposed to.

America needs an actual third party that actually tries to make an effort to get people elected, it doesn’t mean shit if you got a progressive agenda if you can’t get members of your party elected on a local level.

It’d probably be easier to take over the Republican Party than the democrats at this point.

I think the best thing to do re: third parties is work on getting ranked choice voting passed in more states first. Probably the best way to give third parties and independents a chance at winning office.

I do find that my Republican voter members in the suburbs of Chicago and my Democratic voter members in the city of Chicago both respond positively when I quote Lenin at them or talk about democratic centralism (they don’t know that’s what I’m quoting, but still).

Definitely a thought I’ve had a lot recently too. And I think it’s largely a product of the lack of a real primary in the dem party.

They didn’t have to battle it out for the soul of the party. They just coasted by on “not Trump” and Trump isn’t talking about any policy issues. So, here we are.

My wife and I talk about it all the time that you can convince most republicans that progressive ideas are actually good as long as you avoid the “triggering” buzzwords that they hear from Fox News

Yeah, it’s been said before, but Trump could endorse pretty much any leftist policy and lose virtually no support for it. Tbh same with Harris and Dem voters rn. Conversely, they could both endorse extremely far right policies and also not lose support.

So I was looking at the polling. The Dems are definitely losing the Senate right? MT and WV are almost certainly going to be Republican gains, and I don't see any red senate seat the Dems realistic can flip. A minority with a slim margin is their best hope

same policies, different delivery mechanism. this is how people have been trained to be pacified within the American political system. "change" as flimsy as a shift in messaging is still viewed as a substantial development. you don't even have to do anything! just alter your tone. say it a little sweeter. they legitimately treat the electorate like children
