There is a house I always walk by on my way to my local dive bar that is covered in Trump signs, and I just noticed last night their front door has big ass letter stickers on it that spell out "Tom Hanks is a pedophile" lol

I was tempted to take a picture, but also don't want to get shot by crazies so..

What baffles me is there has been 0 attempt to highlight DeSantis's life outside politics in an attempt to try to make him seem personable and likeable to normal people. Like any regular conventional campaign not doubling down on right wing internet grievance would.

I am from the same hometown as him. I graduated from the same high school as him (10 years after him but still). I know the neighborhood he grew up where his parents still live. There was a couple of newspaper articles about Dunedin when his campaign first started, but the there has been really nothing about his childhood here, nothing about his time as a little league/high school/college baseball star, nothing about the tragic death of his little sister at a young age. I was half expecting to see news crews downtown.

 

Also when he said " I grew up in suburban Florida, but my upbringing was more similar to the hardworking bluecollar workers of Ohio" I that I got a pretty good laugh from people here who know his dad was a corporate middle manager and that he went to the expensive private catholic elementary/middle school .

Also there is the irony that our town has been the gayest town in suburban Tampa for decades. During the time Ron was a teenager here in the 90's our downtown was all antique stores, art galleries, and a gay bar. He grew up in a town in that was built by queer business owners. I know his type I grew up guys like him, his antipathy towards queerness comes from a place of familiar resentment, not a place of unfamiliar ignorance.

It’s bread for me. Even when the bread is good it’s still the worst part of any sandwich I like.

i eat too many potatoes to give them up, and while I don’t eat a ton of rice and pasta, the tasty things you can do with them make them better than bread for me

Assuming bread also means things like buns and dough, this sounds miserable. No pizza? No burgers? No thanks.

hmm…yeah maybe. If that’s the case then yeah can’t get rid of bread haha. I was just assuming loafs/buns/rolls/etc. I can do burgers with no bread though
