I do think it's a little weird and pathetic to do that, but I don't think it's nearly as weird as people are making it seem, and it seems overall fairly harmless in the grand scheme of things. I'm with David on it being a case of there are just some things that people do in life that don't need to be broadcast to the entire world in a weird short clip with no context set to music.

 

It’s complete bullshit and cowardly. The agencies have a ton of discretion in approving or disapproving a project, particularly one with this much environmental impact.
And there isn’t any push by industry to drill in the arctic. it’s an empty gesture. And when one day there is that decision to not allow it can easily be reversed.

The Trump administration approved the Willow project and then lost in court and the approval was overturned. This project was teed up for this administration to deny, they clearly just didn’t want to.

 

If the US goes out by nukes it's pretty safe to say many other countries will be going out as well, including Asia's imperialist - China.

 

Regarding the teacher thing it's a little weird but the kids all seemed to have fun with it so I don't see why it's a big deal. Not a bad thing that the students have a close enough relationship with their teacher to be able to do stuff like that

I'm staying out of the is-it-weird-or-not conversation, but this is the one point keep coming back to. With all the focus right now on kids at drag shows, all of Florida's heinous anti-LGBTQ legislation (along with other states), and just the societal climate overall, it actually upsets me seeing this stunt more than anything. It would be on the news for WEEKS if this were a gay classroom wedding, and we'd end up in another cycle of "grooming" talk. I'm at the point where IMO if my sexuality is deemed taboo for the classroom, so should the heterosexuals. Even the playing field 100%. No cute little talk of Jack and Jill liking each other or holding hands. Scrap Valentine's Day, school dances, ALL of it. Nothing involving relationships of any type should be permitted on school grounds. If the conservatives want to ban gay people (cause let's not kid ourselves on that being the goal), then I want to remove all discussion of relationships of any sort from public schools.

Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? That's the lens I'm using to frame all of these types of discussions now. Anything the conservatives want to do away with for us, i want to do the same to them.

I mean this with no disrespect, but you obviously don't live in India, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal, or Bhutan. All share one thing in common: being on the receiving end of a boundary-pushing China. This can go as far south as Micronesia, given the letter of warning that the President released two weeks ago.

Outright ignoring this is nothing but a white wash of contemporary South and East Asia relations.

I am very much not a fan of Tik Tok and think children's lives and the world at large would be infinitely better if it completely and utterly disappeared from existence, but those hearings were a xenophobic, racist clusterfuck of ignorance and stupidity on an absolutely, almost unimaginably profound level, not to mention entirely disingenuous. I can't even put into words the amount of shame and embarrassment I feel knowing that those fucking idiots are members of our government in this country.

It is almost inconceivable that someone or something could make me come down on the side of motherfucking Tik Tok, but I have to hand it to them, they did it. They fucking did it.
