think its important to note and provide the context that Palestinian resistance tactics have included taking hostages for years, decades before Isis. there was once a hostage swap that was 1 israeli for like hundreds of Palestinians.

there's never been these many hostages taken, but of course this is all unprecedented and incredibly desperate.

edit: also looks like israel is fine with losing those hostages in the bombings?

 

I think the issue here is the killing hostages on camera, not that there are hostages in general. To be honest, I couldn’t tell you who first killed hostages on camera, but ISIS is certainly known for it. That’s the point I saw in that article.

edit: agreed on Israel not caring that much since they’re just demolishing buildings with who knows what inside.
