Where are you putting your bagged items at a self check-out? I've never seen one that had a place to rest your bags. The floor?

they're incredible, but the price is such a joke. i bought a bag last year and didn't weigh it before getting to the cashier...$18 for a bag of grapes.

you’re legally allowed to slap someone that had over 10 items in one of those lanes, hope this helps.

I’ve never seen one that didn’t have an area for them. Some are smaller than others. But they all have one. I just choose the register based on my items.
Walmart, Target, Publix. All have them here.

I'll preface this with I always put my cart back, but I think it's funny that people act like its some altruistic act benefitting the workers to put your cart back. As someone who worked retail and grocery for a decade, that's well-needed break to get away from shitty customers and managers.

Also you know you hate your job when your hoping you get hit by a car so you can get out of work.

People who don’t put carts back are assholes. The one who leave them in the middle handicap spots are the worst by far. So often a cart is blocking a space and it’s literally 10 feet from the cart return. People are lazy selfish assholes. I am sure there are exceptions, you know, scenarios with a mom with a bunch of kids who want to runaway and all that. Like, I get it. But I’ve say and watched someone purposefully not even attempt to do it and blocked a space. I got out, grabbed the cart while staring at her and then used it for my shopping.

I don’t see how that solves anything.

I don’t blame employees for allowing it. You don’t want to instigate a customer to get irate. You’re likely to get shot here in Florida by the trash that resides here.

It's a safety hazard for sure and no reason not to do it. I've seen cool guys just leave it right in the drive way.

I just think it's funny that people say it's for the workers. As a worker if its out in the lot but out of the way that was fine and gave me a break to get away, as a human put that shit back.

It teaches them a lesson and next time they won’t have more than 10 items.

Weird. Every self checkout I've seen has a place to put maybe two bags max

I personally loved hunting for and collecting carts while working. Much more fun than going straight to the coral

Some have that. Some have double. Recently my Walmart remodeled and they made a lot of them with three bags width and two bags depth for bags. There are still some that take a few bags space, but like I said, I just choose on how much stuff I’m getting. The only time I ever had an issue was during lockdown when I had to buy my stuff plus a bunch for my mom. That was before the remodel and there wasn’t as many registers with the bigger space. But even then, 9 out of 10 times I could use a bigger one.

Sounds like a reason for a Florida gun nut to shoot me for fearing for his life. Anybody can carry down here. I’m not starting shit with anyone and don’t expect employees to over this.

Where do you shop that there are not lines in self check out? I go to the Kroger near me with 3 actual checkout lanes open and a self check out with like 6-9 stations and only 2-3 of those are open at any given time. The saving time doesn’t exist now that staff is cut short/stretched thin that they don’t utilize their full allotment of lanes.

I have never seen that here. With Walmart not being 24/7 anymore, they don’t even close down too many before closing from what I’ve seen. Walmart, Publix, Target, are my bigger stores here that I use self check out. Well, one Publix has them, one doesn’t.

Damn. All the ones here I go to/have been to in last like 5 years all run like half of their lanes at most. And Costco’s so busy that I’m waiting in line no matter the day, time, or self check vs normal. The grocery store sucks to go to.

I haven’t been to Costco in like 15 years. So I can’t really compare a store like that. It helps that I’m in between two major cities so the busiest stuff is away from me but I’m still not far from going to either one for shows and such.

Fair point about the item limit checkouts, but yet again, people suck and no one follows those kinds of rules anymore, especially after COVID. Being in public places is just a miserable experience these days, with everyone looking out for themselves and no one showing courtesy hardly anywhere. That's led to my personal anxiety creeping up, meaning I don't want forced interactions either. I know employees are there to do their jobs, sometimes I'd rather not talk and just do what I need to do, and go. There's always exceptions of course, and I'm not afraid to ask someone if I can't find what I'm looking for, and will be friendly if I do have interactions.

If you scan more than 10 items the self-checkout should automatically cancel your transaction and tell you to go to the other line.
