Sounds ok I guess but why is his geopolitics news?

Something about the way people can get insanely rich by being online personalities should really blow the lid on our economic system. Like no way we should be letting this Mr beast guy get a ton of wealth and decide by himself whether and how it’s distributed. The justifications for how people get super wealthy are getting more and more strained

 

My favorite piece of Mr. Beast content is when he gives money to an unhoused person and says to him “people say I’m exploiting you but you don’t feel that way right” and the guy he just gave a bunch of money to on camera says no

 

Did he not also navigate well some anti-trans bullshit with someone on his show? Not that is some great achievement but with what kids can get into on YouTube, I will take it.

 

Please don’t give him any credit. He’s an asshole to his staff and while it’s objectively good that other people get some benefit from his content please don’t ignore the ethics of how everything he does is to make himself richer and more famous and every second of it is craven and transparent

 

Stupid question…this guy was independently wealthy prior to YouTube? Or this is just YT money he’s giving out?

 

Not to mention that Mr Beast tricked his followers into thinking he has a restaurant called "Beast Burger", only for it to be revealed that he just has random restaurants making food for him and calling it "Beast Burger" with no quality control or consistency, and people have gotten sick from it

No it doesn’t, the few clips of this that actually exist are used as fodder for corporate lies that actually cause stores to abandon neighborhoods and bolster reactionaries and harm locals. This is not a widespread problem it’s an excuse

 

Fun fact! I worked for a hot minute on the branding for Beast Burger. Never interacted with him, but through the Virtual Dining Concept folks. Big Fyre Fest vibes—I quickly recused myself from the project.

 

why do you all hate a man who gives his money to people?

 

Because he exploits both those people and others to get that money and enrich himself more than he does anyone else, just like *checks notes* every single corporation that we also hate.

I don't see Mr. Beast as someone who "gives his money" to people. He runs an entertainment business, and he pays people to be a part of that business. Accepting money from him means you are signing up to be content that further enriches his business. That compensation often has a positive effect on the people who receive it (like the people who couldn't afford eye surgery), but he does seek out people who are in a vulnerable position with a deal that they can't pass up, even if they may otherwise not want to be reduced to content (again, the people who couldn't afford eye surgery).

He's not the problem, but a symptom of many issues with our society and how we care for people. I think many people hate the fact that it takes the well-meaning, if misguided "charity" of the ultra-rich to right the failures of our safety net, but they have a hard time articulating that. So it's easier to lash out at him.

 

how much money have you given to the poor?

 

Plenty, but not enough to create a self-aggrandizing capitalistic exploitation business out of it.

 

All I know is he has the most dead eyes I've seen. Like his smile never reaches those eyes

 

which he uses to give money back to the poor.
