I must have watched the movie Glory like four or five years in a row in history classes. The shot of the soldier’s head exploding on the battlefield still makes me queasy. In college, one of my film classes did a segment on war epics and when Glory popped up on the schedule I was like ah man not again. Excuse me, Professor, my mom doesn’t give me permission to watch this one.

Saving Private Ryan was another frequent flier with the subsequent permission slip my parents must have signed half a dozen times in high school. I think we watched Titanic in one of my classes but I can’t remember which one or why. We watched the old Romeo and Juliet in English class like everyone else with the nudity snickering rite of passage while the teacher told everyone to grow up. We watched some Christmas movies and specials in December (the original Grinch special, Rudolph, Muppets Christmas Carol (and the Muppets Christmas special in my Physics class) etc.) which usually took up the majority of the last day before Christmas break. We’d also watch a lot of adaptations of books we were reading in English class like To Kill a Mockingbird, The Joy Luck Club, even The Fountainhead (a double dose of Ayn Rand is more than enough thank you).

Remember the Titans was definitely in there somewhere too. The Princess Bride was on a few teachers’ favorites lists so that got several viewings. My art teacher always put a TV in the center of the classroom and put random stuff on so that’s where my first introduction to both Monty Python and The Holy Grail as well as The Life of Brian came from. Oh and This Is Spinal Tap. He was a cool teacher.

In my Psychology class we watched Pink Floyd’s The Wall and then he had us watch The Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon underneath which was neat to experience for the first time. Also a pretty cool teacher. We watched Ordinary People in that class too and I remember thinking “huh, I relate to the main character an awful lot, that’s probably a bad thing right?”

Odd. I wonder what tipped the FBI off. His posts seem to be the standard for republicans these days. Good catch by them.

yeha but since this guy wasn’t a left wing target of theirs, higher chance they knocked and got a bad response rather than shooting first and asking questions later

Just had a crazy work meeting over Google Meets.

My boss told a story about how her dog tried to kill a tortoise that dug into her yard, so she picked up and moved the tortoise and covered up it's hole. My co-worker then pointed out that it is a Gopher Tortoise which is protected by state law, and that she can get up to 5 years in prison for touching it and disturbing it's burrow... Your boss realizing she might go to prison in the middle of a work meeting was a sight to see.

Also now I am remembering the time I had a meeting where a coworker was talking about his dog and he said "yeah I saved him. I took him off the street where he was living with a homeless guy"

I was like "did he steal a homeless person's dog and then really act like it was virtuous thing to do? you piece of shit"

  22. I still don’t think he would’ve done anything unprompted even with the tactical gear profile pic but like yeah I think you’re probably right on this lmao:

  23. Honestly the fact that the feds tried to apprehend him instead of pretending to be fellow travelers and supplying him with a plan and more weapons and *then* arresting him is surprising
