i mean the st. louis area at least in the county is almost entirely made up of planned suburbs so even the not rich neighborhoods have them. but again you'd be surprised how far a price range of 200-250k can take you around here, which is not at all what i would consider rich like my brother was a public defender when he bought his house for 220k but i cant remember if he's in an HOA or not

i'm leaning towards moving back to kentucky, 250k could probably get me a mansion

As someone currently living in a condo building with 500+ units, I can very much confirm that last part haha

I worked with one community that was just over 200 units and oh jesus if there were ever a group of people I legitimately feared would put me into an early grave…

That one was sprawled out across a few miles (it’s a shame because the grounds were actually this really pretty, woodsy, camp vibe that was very pleasant to drive through) and I always thought that separation from each other made them more competitive and aggressive.

honestly i could see myself living in the louisville area some day. the midwest/great plains and the upper southeast are not nearly as horrible as theyre often made out to be. the whole reason i moved back home is because i was killing myself trying to scrape together enough money to pay my bills and rent and feed myself in philadelphia. and yeah obviously i had a lot of help from my family with the transition but in the long run im going to actually be able to stand on my own two feet much sooner than if i were in philly where i feel like i wouldve been asking my parents for rent money the rest of my life. now im gearing up to put the condo in my own name and actually like....own property. absolutely insane i never thought i would be able to do this. and its not like st louis is a bad city, its got tons of awesome hang out spots and things to do, the area im in is very walkable with some very very nice parks (one of which is basically the backyard of my condo building). point is theres so many great places to live in the areas often referred to as "fly over country" that just get dismissed because they arent flashy, sexy places like new york or LA

I have a condo and I've never had a problem with the board or my neighbors, little annoyances at most. Everybody here is pretty young at least.

If all of Trump's massive legal problems come to bite him at the exact same time, do you think he goes up or down in the polling for the 2024 election?

louisville is really nice. i couldn't see myself living there since all my friends/family and work are near cinci, but it's a nice place nonetheless. can't wait to be there in september next year for a few days.

This actually just jogged my memory. There was an Association we worked with where we were only the management company for the pool and clubhouse. Everything else in that community fell under a different management company, and this particular community was, yeah, over 500 units (their mailings were a nightmare). That whole situation made for a lot of fun calls from people who insisted we do something about their landscaping while we’d always have to shrug like “you’ve got the wrong people” and they’d be like “no I don’t” and we’d be like “yes you do” and then they’d tell me they were going to call the local news affiliate to report me.

I would also advise that everyone research the shit out of these and make sure you read the fine print! We had one of these coverages through our insurance company (State Farm, who then 3rd parties it out to another company, in our case HSB) and at the time we signed up there was no restrictions based on age of the appliance, however, 2 years into having this coverage they changed the total $ amount you could receive on a claim based upon the age of your appliance and we got screwed over by this when we had to replace our AC and furnace this summer. They claim they sent us a notice about this change, but I swear up and down I never received anything from our insurance company.

    Damn, sorry that happened!

And yes, I 100% agree with this, definitely read the terms and find the coverage that best fits your budget and situation. These aren't a panacea, but they can help alleviate some of the stress when something inevitably goes wrong and you're dealing with hundreds of other things that come along with settling into a new place.
