Instead we’re passing budget deals that include things to make it easier to build out oil pipelines.

here we go. rumors are the Lt. Gov is also planning on running. That takes away two high profile candidates for the House seat that will almost definitely be open when LBR goes for Carper's senate seat. Interesting.

There's only one more candidate in the state that I'd consider "high profile", Sarah McBride. I've been assuming she'd go for the House seat, but I also heard through the grapevine she wanted to stay state level. Would be wild if that House seat ends up being wide open.

Edit-I forgot about Eugene Young Jr. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of wilmington, but he's pretty big in politics and is currently our state housing authority person. Could see him going for the job too

Not really related, but one of our employees from the Midwest, USA, was visiting our office in MA, and when they arrived, she told this whole story about how she wanted to bring her gun, but legally couldn't; she then opted for a butterfly knife until learning you aren't allowed to carry one in the state, so instead, they had to settle for pepper spray. Like...what are you imagining Massachusetts is like?!

These city council runoffs are looking rough for Denver progressives. Incumbent Candi CdeBaca lost bad. Shannon Hoffman also lost decisively for D10. Shontel Lewis might squeak out a victory in D8. She's down by only 20ish votes, so we'll see how that turns out.

There were some gains in April, which is still good. We got Sarah Parady, Serena Gonzoles-Gutierrez, and Jamie Torres on the council now. And Johnston winning over Brough for mayor is the better outcome (though it was always going to be two very uninspiring outcomes). Still, I was hoping a larger progressive group on city council could push him in a more progressive direction.
