was in a pinch the other day so went to dunkin and paid like 24 bucks for a couple orders of avocado toast and an iced coffee. got the job done but i winced when the cashier dropped the bomb. highway robbery there.

 

I have but it sure as hell not going to be Dunkin. Local donut shop over everything.

 

The two best donut shops in my county are owned by two cousins, Dom's and DJ's.

 

this doesn't really relate to this at all because the two owners aren't even related even though I always think they are but this reminded me that I think everyone should know about this bathhouse in Brooklyn owned by two guys who hate each other and operate the bathhouse on alternating weeks in totally different ways and if you have a season ticket to Guy 1 Bathhouse you can't go during the Guy 2 week and vice versa, it's insane, cool spot tho

In the past, the arrangement was easy enough to ignore, regulars say. Every other week, a different staff appeared behind the front desk, like two casts for the same play.

But some years back, Mr. Shapiro’s son Dmitry, 42, took over his father’s shift and began offering online promotions through companies like Groupon. On his weeks, the baths “became a little less eccentric,” said Jen Emma Hertel, one of Mr. Shapiro’s front-desk clerks, as they began to fill with young Brooklyn types and thrifty tourists.

Mr. Tuberman, however, resisted Groupon — and, for that matter, the Internet. “I don’t have memberships,” he said. “I have cards which don’t expire.”


On his weeks, there are no computers behind the counter, no swipe cards. The front-desk staff, which includes the owner and three Russian-speaking managers, uses punch cards and ledger books. Mr. Tuberman, 75, even disconnects the phone.

 

Reminds of the two brothers who own breweries but don't speak to each other at all. I think they are Danish and I know one of the breweries is Mikeller but I can remember the other one.

Nice! We spend some time most summers on Fourth Lake and I eat way too many of these.

 

We usually go out to western mass a few times in the fall - I'm going to have make a slight detour and go find this place.
