got the call from my parents yesterday that they're cancelling their travel plans. was bummed but also very proud of them for making the right call.

 

Parents are bummed, but I could not be more happy to stay home, cook exactly what we would want for a Thanksgiving meal, and just not have any of stress of traveling.

My parents just got back from a trip to Florida on Sunday, and right now I'm debating whether to visit them to Thanksgiving in two weeks. They only live 30 minutes away, so the distance obviously isn't a big deal, but COVID risks.....

Guess the answer was COVID

 

PA instituting travel restrictions staring Sunday. If you go in to the state you need a negative covid test within the last 72 hours or you quarantine when you arrive. I wonder if anyone ever gets caught not following those rules and what the penalty is.

 

My grandmother refuses to fully cancel any holiday so instead shes cooking dinner and scheduling pick up times for my dad, sister, and cousins and just leaving Tupperware in the driveway for them to swing by and pick up. Its adorable.

 

Pathetic people.

 

I read that it is just up to the public to comply, no one will actually be enforcing it, which is dumb.

 

I usually go to my Uncle's house for Thanksgiving, and they are still having it there, but as far as I know, a lotof the people that usually go won't be going this year so it will probably be like 10 people there when it is usually 20+. But even so, my parents and I have decided not to go, obviously not worth the risk. I've been saying we shouldn't go for a while now, and I'm glad they agreed and I didn't have to convince them. We are gonna stay home and just have my grandma over for dinner.

I put down a firm boundary about holiday gatherings. Told my grandmother I'd rather have her angry with me than dead because of me. She's sad about Thanksgiving but didn't put up a fight.
