Summer 2021 would literally be 2000x time sooner than my expectations. I would be so pumped.

Yeah that's a surprisingly quick turnaround from some of Fauci's earlier claims, but I suppose we know more now than we did then

The real question is though.. in a 90% effective vaccine, how safe do we feel knowing there's still a 10% chance we could still catch a deadly virus?

I'm not claiming to know what I'm talking about, but not sure how that efficacy compares to other widely used vaccines? Would be curious to read some more data on that. It's obviously very important in containing things, but idk if that means we should still fear going out in public?

The odds that half of the country will not take the vaccine are very high, right?

the cdc website says the flu vaccine is 50-60% effective so a 90% effective rate sounds pretty incredible.

I don’t know exactly how it works but I assume that if a majority of people got the vaccine then that should really just bring the chances of transmission to near zero even if there were that 10% chance it doesn’t work for each person. The amount of people protected would still be enough to stop the spread.

That’s assuming that the poll showing half of Americans won’t get it aren’t accurate

lots of people still die from the flu though. and we know this thing is far more infectious than the flu

If in addition to protecting you from the virus, it also protects you from spreading the virus, 90% is likely enough to get the transmission numbers low enough the virus has a hard time spreading. so its hopefully enough? but need people to actually take it.

  12. Back in August. And I don't know for sure but wasn't the question like, if a vaccine was available this year? I dunno, at that time the consensus was Trump would push anything out en masse just to win the election.

imo the pentagon shakedown is very worrying. any way u put it, anywhere it happens a head of state firing/replacing top military officials while at the same time refusing to acknowledge an election loss looks horrible.

RE: Trump gutting officials at the Pentagon.

Does this mean anything besides those roles being vacant until the new administration takes over (in addition to making our country potentially vulnerable for the next several weeks)?

I didn't think of it that way and that's a very good point - if we can get community transmission down, the likelihood of catching it should be very low in theory. But yeah that'd be in a perfect world where half of the country won't refuse to get it at all heh.

Lol the admin of one of my city's facebook pages was spouting shit about masks being a hoax, and when I explained why he's wrong, he told me that I better go hide under my bed. I told him that it's sad that an admin of the group could behave so insultingly, so he deleted my comment and muted me because I'm "an a-hole"
