Natural Gas Rush Drives a Global Rise in Fossil Fuel Emissions

Much more to the point and relies on a lot less assumptions and gaps in information than the Twitter thread posted in here yesterday, which was basically a US industry talking point breakdown. This is clearly not a bridge to anything except irreversible climate disaster and even if it was, do you really think these energy companies are investing billions in infrastructure just to move off natural gas as soon as possible? Second paragraph tells you all you need to to know to debunk the whole bridge fuel argument: natural gas has increased global carbon emissions even accounting for declining coal plants, we don’t even need to get into the methane argument (which shouldn’t even be an argument, methane emissions are very very bad).

 

Part of me wishes they were still doing the debate in person next week. Only because Trump wouldn't be able to hide his health at all so we'd all be able to see how full of shit he actually is. I'd love for him to say something like "I've never been healthier" and then immediately go into a coughing fit.

 

Just staying on Fox News and being on Rush seems like a really dumb campaign strategy.

 

He is/they are dumb. He’s better off just doing a nationally covered debate even if it’s virtual and gets muted.

 

Keep him on Fox and they can have their own little world together long after the election is over and Biden is the new pres.

On a cautiously positive note, Biden is now 6 times more likely to win on 538.

I think Trump is powerless to actually improve his chances in terms of voting intentions, whatever he does. That ship has sailed, he only has abuse of power at his disposal now. More worried about the senate.

 

He's apparently doing a rally over the weekend, let him keel over there before he gets anywhere near Biden.

Can’t wait to be able to check the news once a day rather than refreshing every 10 for my hit of anger and a rise of cortisol levels

 

I'm not gonna think things are great and normal, but I anticipate a sense of relief and will likely be in here a bit less in general tbh

But then again, we'd still likely have McConnell so there will probably be plenty of things to stay angry about lol

 

Even if it won't be the cleanest, it will definitely be a breath of fresh air if/when Biden wins.

Even if he loses, Trump will continue to be a vocal leader within the GOP until he dies. The news will continue covering whatever an ex-president does

 

What is the percentage and what is the amount of polls needed to make the Presidential Debate? This is one of the higher ones I have seen for the Libertarian candidate. I've read and heard both 5% and 15% for Presidential debates but not exactly sure.

Also seeing the third party candidate hurt Trump more is interesting.

 

I was recently in Wilmington, NC and saw exactly that more times than I ever would have imagined haha.

 

I've been intensively lurking for over a year and I can't wait to not have to hang on to every development here because the government actually has a minimum of sanity and decency.

As someone who has been overseas since I was 7 Trump was a wake-up call that I should vote even if for popular vote margins only. Although now I know I vote in pennsylvania so my vote actually carries some weight.

I appreciate this thread for letting me actually feel in the know, even if I don't agree with everything. I look forward to reading it without it being doomscrolling

 

It was 15% in 2016 so i imagine it’s the same this year

 

...and if anyone gets close to 15%, they'll probably just change the rules to make it 20%.

 

That is what I thought as well but have a few Jo supporters on my timeline who keep pumping up the 5% threshold so was slightly confused.

 

Feel like your engagement with politics should be more than checking the news and voting.
