  1. Where the polls missed by less than average?

Can we have one thread where we don't do this version of the conversation?

  2. Yeah, no way I'd wanna be within 20 feet of that drugged up spittle spewing death trap.

Someone who makes $400k in NY can't afford to move to CT and take the train like many others do?

Find it hard to believe that a wealthy person is unable to move to a middle class town, but would love to hear what I'm missing here?

Even if you have a family with three kids, $400k a year is still going to let you live a comfortable life in literally any city.

    boomers still gonna boom

poll seems way too good to be true. but if it is... we could actually see the "election called after Texas goes blue" dream scenario

in the very specific NYC example, sure.

if you move NYC to syracuse, you absolutely could not

if you move chicago to rockford you absolutely could not

if you move pretty much any large city to a city even an hour and a half away, even with the same title and industry, you won’t be making the same. this is pretty basic stuff, no?

I think he was saying you could commute from the suburbs. Even in NYC if you chose to stay there maybe just don't have the biggest apartment lol

  15. I think I once met someone that was making 750k a year, I can't even really wrap my head around that kind of income on a regular basis. My shoe collection would definitely look like Drew's though. With less green.

I'm talking about commuting to the same job like tons of people do every single day, not quitting and getting a job that pays less

If you can't afford to move to Syracuse on $400k.. don't move to Syracuse and move to CT, like I already said? You can get a nice house for less than $2 million there lol

right. but NYC is really the only city where commuting from the suburbs from a suburb that's a lower cost of living, but still very nice and reachable with public transportation, is an option for this scenario. any other city where someone is going to be making 400k ... living in the suburbs is going to make travel difficult/living in a "suburb" will lead to a decrease in pay.

this isn't an option for literally everyone else in the country besides those in NYC

    lol cmon.

I guess I see your point there but I still think someone who could make a $400k income literally anywhere in the country has way better options than the average person who makes $40k-70k even in the cheapest of states.

my wife makes more than pretty much everyone I know in our age group (obviously taking parents of friends/higher-ups at works etc. out of it) and our combined income isn't close to 400k lol. an absurd amount.

i mean, yes. it's a lot of money lol, like I said in my post to jason.

there is a "point" though to the livable income requiring much higher salaries in a place like NYC though. my wife's firm has an office in NYC where the starting salary is a sizable chunk higher than those in her office in charlotte, but so is the cost of living. the cost of living is probably proportionately higher in NYC than the salary bump they get compared to those in charlotte. like, that's not an insane point.

the insane part is choosing 400k as the number. the overall point he was trying to make isn't farfetched at all though

I'm saying that a family of five earning $400k a year living in New York City is doing just fine and shouldn't complain about their taxes going up. Same goes for earning $400k a year living in literally any other city.

i agree with that fully and never said anything contrary to that

I said someone making 400k can't just up and move and still make remotely close to that, which again, seems like pretty basic stuff
