Oh yes, there was quite the conversation about this earlier today (and I've been sharing it with people outside here). Have to enjoy the laughably absurd moral depravity of these people before it gets usurped by the next story highlighting their much more harmful and deadly moral depravity

I feel like Biden has said things that could easily be taken one way or the other in regards to the stimulus checks, but has never once confirmed a single $2k check on top of the existing $600. I completely understand the misunderstanding of him and headlines because he didn't really get that specific at times, but it's really just making assumptions

 

I just found out that my husbands employer received $350k and when one of the employees (has leukemia) needed to quarantine, the owner made him file for unemployment.

we're only facing a global pandemic, housing and unemployment crisis, losing four thousand people a day, and requiring people to work in unsafe conditions and contributing to the spread of said pandemic while charging rent/mortgage and living expenses to credit cards and racking up insane amounts of additional debt to simply surivive but yes $1400 on a technicality is what we should be defending right now

I don't think it is fair to just say everyone should have known that they meant that the $2000 was a cumulative total. It's a dick move. They ran on $2000 checks and now they're giving people $1400 checks.

Just because I always assumed they were going to be shitheads about it doesn't mean they should get a free pass for acting like fucking shitheads. There are certainly bigger fish to fry right at the moment but it still sucks that at a time when we're putting 4,000+ people a day into the ground the guy that is supposed to come in and help things starts off this way literally first thing.

 

You know what, the more I go back and look at this the more wrong I think people defending Biden are.

I really pay attention to all of this shit and read about it all of the fucking time and I only halfway expected this because I know how Biden and the democrats can be, not because of how they worded it at all.

 

Never been so bummed about a $1400 check in my life.

Oh well, at least we'll get $3000/$3600 for the Child Tax Credit now instead of $2000 each.

 

It appears this debate is literally *all over* my twitter feed and that tells me there are enough people that are surprised / didn't understand the messaging all along.

 

I mean, if we’re calling that a $2000 check, might as well call it a $3200 check, lol.

Really wanna see that $15/hr minimum wage, though. And, some student debt forgiveness, please. And, hopefully Bernie the Budget Chair can help get some other things done, too.
