I feel like this idea being the central pillar of these reform legislative movements popping up would go a long way towards bridging the gap between the reform vs abolition camps.

Replacing the majority of police who respond to these non violent calls with unarmed, trained medical/mental health/social work professionals and reserving traditional police for violent crime is already a part of platforms like Campaign Zero & 8 Can't Wait etc and is, correct me if i'm wrong, a big component of what people have in mind when they refer to police abolition

 

This needs to be immediately challenged to a higher court, jfc

I cannot even begin to explain how insane & tone deaf that Candace Owens video is. It's just... bizarre...

 

I refuse to watch anything from Candace Owens. She’s the most obvious grifter out of all of them.

 

The American Nightmare

While black Americans view their experience as the American nightmare, racist Americans view black Americans as the American nightmare. Racist Americans, especially those racists who are white, view themselves as the embodiment of the American dream. All that makes America great. All that will make America great again. All that will keep America great.

But only the lies of racist Americans are great. Their American dream—that this is a land of equal opportunity, committed to freedom and equality, where police officers protect and serve—is a lie. Their American dream—that they have more because they are more, that when black people have more, they were given more—is a lie. Their American dream—that they have the civil right to kill black Americans with impunity and that black Americans do not have the human right to live—is a lie.

 

Is this a sure thing? The city council has the ability to override the mayor on this one? Does this mean unarmed public safety officers? Interesting

 

One of my cousins shared that Candace Owens video on fb and has been posting breitbart articles saying “black lives matter is a joke.” Also he’s dating a black woman.

 

Call him an idiot

 

My dad shared that video and I'm pretty sure that just destroyed our relationship

Haven't watched it though, saw the caption and it was enough

 

no idea at this point in time. I could see a majority but not the entirety of the city council vote for it though

 

Definitely took me by surprise there at the end!
