There are a SHIT TON of cop cars and military vehicles driving into and around the TD Garden in Boston. A seemingly never ending line of cop cars driving down.

I also don’t understand the purpose of not posting about it. Pictures I can understand even if I don’t agree but posting at all? It has been ONLY social media posts that have told the truth about what transpired at the protests I was at. People telling their stories of what’s happening on the ground is incredibly important?

Yeah if the people don't, the media sure as shit won't. 99% of the decent news coverage has been from user-submitted content. I definitely understand the dangers of showing people's faces but.. it's kind of unavoidable right now

Exactly the media is lying about what happened here no surprise. If it weren’t for people I know and trust telling their stories (myself included) I would have no clue what was actually happening.

I also feel yeah unavoidable. Literally all around me everyone has their phones out and that doesn’t include all the professional looking photographers and videographers and news stations that were on the scene. I understand the concern for privacy but I also feel that that ship has sailed.

if this was back just a few years ago, I could understand this. But given that cities like Dallas are now using apps to scrub videos for identifying protestors, PDs using twitter to find protestors, the MN Gov letting it slip (never got clarification if he misspoke or not) that they're getting communication info from NSA, and the military being deployed, it's not worth the risk imo. do what you wish, but know you could be putting others in your pictures at risk at the very least.

Yeah I mean, how can we trust the media to accurately portray these protests? People taking videos have also exposed some bad things done by the cops to these people and such. The protest I went to was 100% peaceful, I figured it would be a good thing to post on social media how peaceful yet powerful it was, but idk

I think if you choose to protest right now, you are accepting the risk of being arrested and understand that it's to spread a good message. Without sharing these videos, the good message will not be spread and instead be warped, and the risk they're taking would be meaningless. I totally understand your view here though and I very much struggle with it myself. I feel like I can be easily swayed in both directions on this one right now, and have bounced back and forth on it. It's fucked.

Is he talking about DC or Florida??? Because that was not the case here they were shooting peaceful people with rubber bullets before a curfew was even set

im specifically talking about posting photos with EXIF data and that contain other protestors. please do your best to only capture the police the best you can, and review your photos and edit them as necessary and post them from anonymous or accounts that can't be linked back to your name or city.

I gotta say though, some of the organizers themselves are live streaming them. The one I went to today the organizer live streamed it on facebook. I don't know, just seems like if you go to one of these it's unavoidable to not have your face in a video or picture somewhere

    I’m confused by this tho
Like the exif data is only going to give me away. Same as posting it on my own accounts with my name/face/whatever. I personally chose that risk every time I stand up and consider myself to be an activist. This is who I am and what I’m about, it isn’t a secret. Any post on social media could tell you that about me so what does it matter if I have a picture of a protest?

furthermore the point definitely seems more moot when the majority of the crowd is wearing face masks and obscuring their identity anyway
