Dude went to college and must have met some black people and got a little bit of that delicious left wing indoctrination, based on his graduating year in his profile

In y'all's opinion, would it make more sense to donate to one of the organizations the MFF suggested ('cause they'd already gotten a ton of support), or to an organization in one of the other areas where shit's going down? And if the latter, any suggestions?

I'm down for the riotting and the bricks, but i am not down for looting. That to me sends a completely wrong message. Luckily those instances are completely rare. My fear for anytime these things get out of hand, is that the wrong message is conveyed, because in the end, controlling the narrative is important.

  15. The thing people have to understand about looting is that corporations, chains, and banks in poor neighborhoods - and other places - are looting those neighborhoods by virtue of their existence. Driving out smaller or locally owned businesses, underpaying whatever locals they do hire, having 'security' contracts with PDs, contributing to gentrification, giving bad mortgages - all examples of violence and theft that make looting look like shoplifting. Everything is insured, no one is getting fired over this. If you're worried about janitors having to clean up broken windows but you weren't worried about them being underpaid or not unionized or driven out of their homes, you're missing the point. "Controlling the narrative" is nice but what exactly has it won?

“Dr. King's policy was that nonviolence would achieve the gains for black people in the United States. His major assumption was that if you are nonviolent, if you suffer, your opponent will see your suffering and will be moved to change his heart. That's very good. He only made one fallacious assumption: In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none.”

  16. "With the destruction of property, violence can turn from an aspect of self-defense to a useful offensive tactic. Nothing gets the attention of the elite like taking away or destroying what they value above all else: property. In America, property is racial. It always has been. Consider the racist violence which stretches from slavery to lynching to the ongoing extrajudicial killings of black men and women. For 300 years, the very idea of a black person’s freedom was a direct threat to white men’s property. After slavery, lynchings were often targeted at blacks who had gained relative wealth and therefore, challenged the wealth and property of white men. This year, George Zimmerman was found not guilty for killing an unarmed black child-who he assumed was breaking into homes in his gated, white community, or threatening the property of his white neighborhood. When property is destroyed by black protesters, it must always be understood in the context of the historical racialization of property. When the same system that refuses to protect black children comes out to protect windows, what is valued over black people in America becomes very clear.

One cannot discuss the immorality of damaging property without devaluing the rage that brought protesters to this point. You, too, have to decide which one you value more: human life or property. As Vinz so eloquently says in the film La Haine, when rage spills into the streets after a brutal police beating left a young man from the ghetto on life support: “A homeboy’s dying; fuck your car.”"

I get the point of that they can obviously afford to cleanup and fix the damage and all that, but how can you say not a single lower level employee will be affected? If you worked at a place that got looted and destroyed, pretty sure that means those people will be out of a job for at least the time being.

I would NOT trust the National Guard to do shit. These guys are barely in the Army, much less trained to function in that capacity. I would not trust the majority of career soldiers to handle a situation like this. Giving live ammunition to someone that works three days out of the month is a fucking joke.
