lmao you literally mentioned in your post how posters like me would say things like how progressive the Dem platform is.

Now to you’re saying you infact don’t see that being said. Hm.

You’re being pissy and an asshole because it appears so far other people might be right about how to win. so you assume people are just “rubbing your nose” in it instead of hoping that hey maybe next time we do this the way that might get us a win and get people on board with that.
But you’re right. It’s just “nose rubbing”. Or something.

this is pretty foolish. she isn't the best choice from a policy standpoint but from a name ID/actually getting the nomination pick, she's pretty clearly best.

How’s Bernie looked so far in this interview? Watching now and he seems a little...subdued. Has he being answering the questions well? This segment was all about covid19 so less politics

Before Bernie started doing this well in the primary I never thought someone like him could possibly be the democratic party nominee. I’ve never had hope or faith in this party until a few months ago. I can hardly believe he’s done as well as he has without completely compromising his ideals so it’s baffling to second guess his campaign for not being more status quo. That’s all

He’s been fine, nothing unordinary. She pressed him on the insignificant uptick of younger voters yesterday and he didn’t have an answer for it and just rolled with the “first time I’m hearing these numbers.”

It's not a bad ticket because of her baggage it's a bad ticket because they are both old white progressive senators from the Northeast. Need to diversify far more than that

How would she help him expand his base? Beyond college educated white women voters I don’t see the advantage. People who aren’t hardcore dems clearly don’t like her at all.

he's answering the questions fairly well, imo. the way rachel is framing the questions is kinda bullshit and he's spending half the answer re-framing the question in a more fair light. idk how effective that will be but MSNBC is gonna do their shit.

I think Bernie should treat her like a running mate, campaigning together and such, during the primary, and then negotiate a different pick at the convention if it comes to that.

He can still advocate for the polices he does while also 1. Just being overall friendlier with fellow politicians, especially ones he needs to garner support from and 2. Just being smarter about messaging and literally just pretending his policies arent as far left as they are. Republicans have shown us at this point that the large majority of voters don’t pay enough attention to realize that extreme policies are being pushed as long as you just...pretend it’s not happening haha.

As much as it sucks to realize, calling yourself a “socialist” seems to, at minimum, make voters get cold feet about supporting you when they view it as a must win election. So maybe next time just keep saying “I’m a new deal progressive” or “I like aspects of social democracy but it’s nothing different than a progressive policy that we’ve had here before” or etc. I will say Bernie tried that a litttttle bit but his and his campaigns messaging on it wasn’t consistent and eventually they just started saying “not socialist, democratic socialist” and kinda just gave up the facade.

The man is on record for decades as being a democratic socialist pre-2016. The best way to handle that label is to embrace it and turn it around on the people trying to use it against him. It isn’t to run away from it. That’s goddamn idiotic. He’ll look like he’s lying to get elected (which he would be) and he’d (rightly) get called out for it. It would hurt him way more if he was accused of being a “secret socialist”.

  19. College educated white women and high information dems are probably the two gets right now that are potentially still available as a voting block and could have weak attachment to Biden. Some of those suburban 2018 numbers woulda been incredibly nice to have.

  20. His "I'm not that radical" answer in the debate was one of his best answers, it tied hope, optimism, and all his policies together in a way that also said "this is what we as a party should stand for, you like all of it, these are popular things, join me" -- found that very compelling and I venture a guess others would too.
