Women in this country deserve more than just being told "yeah sorry you already support Joe enough that a female VP isn't in the cards this time around maybe try again in four years I hear Nikki Haley might be running"

Yep. Politics is about more than just policy. It sucks but if you want to win you have to build coalitions. Because you’re not going to convince enough people that you’re exactly right on every policy. especially when half the people out there busy insulting supporters of other politicians.

I mean, a woman Vp would be great, but also politicians usually try to pick VPs that address their own weaknesses with certain sects of voters. If Bernie keeps crushing it with Latinos and young progressives and Biden keeps winning with AA and Women voters, his campaign team might prioritize progressive or Latino over woman or black

I just hope he doesn’t pick an old White dude

So many signs pointed to Sanders having a strong enough coalition. We just saw in this thread today, evidence that many of his supporters got scared. They saw the pendulum of support swinging to Biden and jumped ship.

Could he have done more? Of course. Literally every candidate can always do more all the time to entice more people to come to their side. But seeing the absolute fluff job that Biden got ahead of Super Tuesday is currently the main focus of my ire because I can’t help but feel that it resulted in an incalculable shift that was not in the cards for Joe pre-SC

maddow: "would you consider asking her [Warren] to be your running mate?"

bernie: "it's too early to discuss that"

no. it isn't, dude. i hope this is just posturing to not reveal his hand.

even winning SC, even winning SC big, wouldn’t have swung the numbers this hard and convinced the others to drop out if not accompanied by the deluge of positive press and pressure from the Dem establishment

I would have taken a Bernie/Warren ticket at the onset and I’ll damn sure take it now

  11. SC was more than enough to end Pete and Amy's campaigns. They had no more money. I was talking about it as soon as Nevada ended. It being as big as it did guaranteed it.

Bernie really should’ve tried harder to be nicer to Obama and take selfies with him for the good press

yep. It was suuuuper obvious in the last two debates that Pete was out of money, even if we didn’t have the campaign filings showing as much. He and Amy were hoping for a surprise showing in SC so they could spin it to donors to give more money. The minute that didn’t happen, with Biden grabbing the momentum, it meant they had little to no chance to turning it around on Super Tuesday. With no money to campaign and low hopes of having a showing that would bring the money back...

Sanders almost singlehandedly pushed this whole worthless party to have the most progress policy in history as David would exaggerate all while not hiding from the word socialism and it took pretty much the whole field to drop out and endorse one party elite in order to beat him. What he has done even if he doesn’t win this is so incredibly impressive, most of the lecturing about what he should have done is borderline gaslighting

“Sanders did great work even if he didn’t win and people talking about what he should have done to win so we’d be better off are bad” is not the argument I was expecting from you

you act as if people pointing out things Bernie could have done differently aren’t also super happy about how much better he’s left the party off in terms of policy too

  20. Yeah, from everything I read today, the Bernie camp thought they'd stay in until right after Super Tuesday and they had the delegate lead. But everyone else could see the math too. I think a weaker Biden in SC woulda worked out as planned, but he had an incredible SC. Which leads me back wishing more "politics as usual" coulda been worked out with Clyburn, because that right there may have changed everything.

Nah most of it is trying to rub his nose in not sucking up to the party and making compromises with every centrist asshole. I’m not seeing much like your quote there.

Bernie/Warren is not a good ticket. Her baggage would only weigh him down.
