Trump is about to open everything up and is just going to ignore the continuous future deaths to covid-19 because why the fuck not? He’ll say “he led us to victory on the battlefield against the invisible enemy” while thousands of people continue to die and they’ll just ignore it and move on.

    We are fucked.

This is exactly what happens. I’m already seeing it in our county. The whole point of staying at home was to give the government time to prepare and ramp up and they haven’t done anything.

now we’ll just move on and shrug our shoulders and say “we tried” while thousands more die.

    Yep.

It’s going to be like EVERY SINGLE OTHER thing which happened during his term. He will get pressed by the media on it for a short while and he’ll lash out and say “we won” and completely ignore everyone who keeps dying and eventually the media will move on to the next thing.

Thousands will keep dying into the Fall as Trump wins another 4 years after his self proclaimed “victory” gives enough momentum from his base and all the other idiots.

Its wild that this is such a catastrophic failure, a complete disregard for human life, a catastrophe in organization, and a huge fuck up in messaging, and yet the Trump administration is facing very little political consequences. Polling just about as well as before and no matter how fucked up they're acting it doesn't matter.

Are the democrats so inept that they can't use this incompetence for political gain at all? Do they have no alternative to offer so they're keeping quiet on it? Is the political media so poisoned by bothsides bullshit that no amount of preventable deaths can sway opinion? Are we just fucked? I'm honestly lost.

Think you guys are reading way more into that Bill Gates/Cuomo quote than intended. Presumably he's probably talking about putting together a sustainable distancing learning program because there's a good chance schools are either not gonna open next fall or open and then shut down in a few weeks when the disease starts circulating. What we're doing now in a lot of places hardly qualifies as true distance learning because of how easy they're telling us to take it on the kids. Can't do it like this if we have to do distance learning next year.

Unless they misbehave or have a learning disability. In that case, kick them out of the charter school and send them to a crumbling public school.

  17. right but couldn’t you see districts handing a bunch of money over to Microsoft and google to boost up distance learning and then have less to spend on, well, teachers and stuff

Teaching online this semester has been so fucked up and I don’t want to do it again.

I made the decision to change the class I teach next fall to be once a week in case online studies become mandatory again. Ugh.

Don't know how flush with funds NYC districts are but around here our districts would just laugh at anyone trying to force them to give money to anybody because we don't have it:crylaugh:Anything extra like that would be funded by some sort of one time state expenditure or something. You know, because education isn't important enough to have new spending actually be perpetual heh.

They do it to us every 2 or 3 years too, it's crazy. One year they spent a bunch of money to put TVs into all the classrooms because hey all the teachers will get ipads and you can screenshare to the TV and apple TV and etc. But then the apple TV and screensharing stuff never actually came to fruition because they didn't give us the money for it and teachers never got any real training on integrating their ipads into instruction. Then 2-3 years later they spend money on an ipad cart for each classroom so the kids could at least have an ipad in the class (but couldn't take it home) (also I heard some funny stories about tech savvy teachers who were able to take advantage of the ipad/TV thing themselves, only to have tech savvy students cast their own things to the classroom TV....). Then 4 years later they ditch the ipad carts for chromebook carts. This year we used those chromebooks to send home to kids when all this stuff happened (meaning we probably could have given them to them from the beginning like other one to one tech schools do). Now from what I've heard in the next year or two they're gonna remove all the TVs from our classrooms that they just put there 8-10 years ago lol. It's insane.

But also fuck those TVs because I don't have a working projector in my room and the TV screen is maybe 40 inches so all my powerpoints and videos and etc are on the TV and for the kids in the back of the class its...not ideal.

democrats have no idea how to wield power, use political leverage, or seize opportunities to advocate for their policies. they are 90% ineffective at doing their job.
