Yeah this is true. It also really sucks that if Biden wins we're likely still looking at the end of the Left's ascendancy in the Democratic party for at least a little while as we endure the Told You So's from the establishment for, like, forever. But it's still preferable to four more years of Trump no matter what.

I’m just gonna pretend that joe Biden is Bernie from weekend at Bernie’s so when I have to vote for him in the general I can lie to myself and say I’m voting for bernie. Just not the good one.

Which even if it was a wakening in leftist politics, good luck getting anything done when the Trump administration finishes their work on skewing the judicial branch heavily to the right by filling all court levels with trump cronies

it’s do or die for the Democratic Party

I just really can't do another round of "Trump and the Democrat are really the same, actually" now that we've had four years to learn that is demonstrably not the case. Joe Biden sucks, hard, like he's not a good person and also a bad candidate, but come on.

i'd rather eat shit than trump get reelected. i was so mad the last few days and was dead set on undervoting if biden is on the ballot but i really don't think I can do it. i fucking hate it so much that i might very well have to vote for him

they're not the same, but they're the same enough that they can benefit from billionaire donors and oil and gas companies and military industrial companies, etc. obama was terrible on immigration and drone strikes and FISA court request, etc etc etc. democrats have been approving trumps budgets and judicial picks and all sorts of awful shit that benefit republicans and billionaires, they are measurably better but not by a whole hell of a lot. and it fucking sucks that voting to "stop" trump still results in instances where his military budget still gets voted for by them or they approve his judicial picks. fuck it all. i know you know all this but im just spewing internal frustrations

What sucks is, without Bernie at the top doing a lot of work, it just increases the amount of work people have to do in terms of calling and pressuring legislators to endorse more left wing policy annnd young people don’t use the phone to call people so...

I think one thing I'm going to focus on now is to work from the bottom up for leftist policy - work on turning local elections. But I'm not exactly settled down anywhere local right now, and the place I am most stable at is fucking empty as all get out (Wyoming), so I'm not sure where to start.

Probably a more populated area but there's nothing wrong with starting small, then you can build your resume up. Nothing wrong with trying to turn Wyoming blue tho

just show up to your local city council/board of commissioners meetings. speak during citizen communication. go to your local house district meetings or your democrat party meetings. figure out when the next election is and run.

Talking politics with my family is going to hospitalize me.

My parents are "equal-opportunity haters" who skew super republican but are intelligent enough to not vocally support trump. They think the only viable dem candidate is Tulsi.

My sister is HYPER pro-warren. She also thinks that Bernie is the least viable candidate & that none of his policies make sense.

Is this purgatory? Does this environment exist solely to test my strength?

maybe start in an area prone to be more blue there like around the National Parks? Get people around there realizing their way of life is going to be hurt by climate change

It is likely naive of me to think like this but I think trump re-election harms so many people and a biden presidency would harm a little less people but still suck. The Supreme Court stuff is worth me voting for him alone. But I fucking hate it so much.

My wife who describes herself as moderate leaning conservative (but who really is liberal on most everything she just grew up with a Republican cop dad who is of the “poor people shouldn’t get so mucb assistance” types so that just rubbed off on her) is almost definitely voting for whoever the Dem is in the general. Of course it doesn’t matter because our state is blue. But she likes Bernie and pretty much all of them. Part of this is Trump but part of it also me methodically pointing out to her over the last 11 years together how so much of the stuff she wants/supports requires higher taxes to do so and the party she might have supported in her younger days isn’t going to be the party to vote for those things lol.

Two questions keep popping in my mind:

1.) In a hypothetical reality where it’s a two-person race from this point on, w/ Liz having endorsed Bernie & being his official VP pick, w/ the damage that’s already been done, what are Bernie’s real chances against Joe?

2.) What paths exist for Liz to become Joe’s VP if he wins? (I *hate* that I’m asking this, lol, fuck.)
