I know he’s not purposefully being an asshole but god it’s hard to read this shit without wanting to throw my hands up and walk away from this whole election. See if Trump did this liberals would be furious, I feel like there’s two different realities.

at this point I feel like there absolutely are, as evidenced by responses to Biden's numerous absurd lies and, uh, credible rape allegation

When someone first told me about COBRA as an option, I assumed it was some type of program along the lines of what you are apparently saying this proposal wants to turn COBRA in to. Once I figured out what it really was I was like 'Yeah, I could also go out and buy into one of those weird Luxury Health Insurance or Premium health Insurance things you see advertised for ultra wealthy people who don't want to even interact with peons when going to the doctor.'

This plan is a pretty horribly inadequate 1/10-measure (doesn't even merit being called a half-measure). Anything less than full federal student debt forgiveness is nowhere near enough.

It is an "and', which is a joke considering federal debt doesn't discriminate between whether you went to a public college or a private one. Also it doesn't address post-graduate school debt, private or public.

Imagine talking about “progressive” relative to American presidents as if it’s anything resembling sufficient. Couldn’t be me, y’all.

Yes, this would be far more progressive than what other presidents have done. The fact that we could have had someone more progressive doesn't make this less progressive than past presidents.

Also, you're gonna see a lottttttt of push back from most people on what they will see as subsidizing private universities, especially religious ones. That's why a lot of the tuition-free college proposals are geared towards public universities.

I mean, I agree it is a severely lacking plan. Still the most progressive than what any previous president has proposed that I know of.

Hopefully, Bernie's team keeps working with him and gets him to expand on this plan to include things like debt forgiveness from private universities, graduate student debt, etc.

  14. The point about private colleges is one thing but the FOR PROFIT ones that rip people off for degrees that are essentially useless should absolutely be shut down and whatever assets they have used to forgive debt and then whatever's leftover should be used to straight up pay back as much tuition as possible for people who've already paid debt off or paid tuition out of pocket. evil, evil fucking institutions those are

Yeah, for-profit "colleges" should be outlawed and stripped for parts 100%

I’d love to be proven wrong but regardless of what Biden is being told he’s proposing I have no faith his presidency will be more progressive than Obama’s or even Clinton’s for that matter. This guy was a self proclaimed Zionist and was open to slashing social security the last time he was actually fighting for things. I mean do we remember why he was everyone’s last choice in here aside from Bloomberg or maybe Pete?
Offer Warren the VP and I’ll start to change my mind.

This doesn't fall completely in line with "useless" because they do teach you shit, but l m a o there's no fucking way my wife's cosmetology school should have cost $30k

I mean, not talking career-wise, but in the past ten years at least, hasn't Biden arguably been further left than Obama? If I recall correctly, when Obama was President he had called for free community college while President, but then Biden came out and said we should have 4 years of free public college. Biden also pushed Obama to support gay marriage, right?
