I finally feel that we as a country deserve whatever is coming to us. If we don't want to pay attention to what's going on and just vote for whoever cable news tells us to, Trump will win and Democracy will die. We're already basically there anyway.

I keep thinking about how I got hit during last year’s tax season because my one new job took like nothing out for federal, resulting in me owing a lot after the penalty for no insurance, at the same time as I had to put money into my car. And, seeing at the time a tweet about Joe wanting to restore the mandate.

Please, no one tell me how the ACA, in its current form, needs the mandate to work. Or how the ACA does help a lot of people. I get it. But, it’s just really frustrating to see someone who wants to prop up this messy system & call it good push so far ahead of someone who wants to fight for a better system (yes, that maybe he couldn’t get passed right now, whatever) while also eliminating my student debt.

And, because I live in PA, I gotta watch the campaigns do their thing & momentum potentially get decided before it gets to me, but then I’ll be pressured into voting for someone I don’t support in the general so that he can appoint moderates to the Supreme Court instead of rapists, be nicer to the immigrant families he’s deporting, & approach his drone strikes differently.

Which, I’ll probably end up doing like I decided last minute to do in 2016 when Trump’s chances over Clinton were surging, & feel just as dirty afterwards. But, I don’t even know if that matters ‘cause what’s one vote out of many gonna do when it’s not out of an honest excitement that my peers can surely discern when I try to convince them to care?

I’m not giving up. I know that Bernie isn’t out yet, & even if he ultimately proves inadequate to carry his ideology over the finish line, I’m hopeful of what people like AOC could mean for the future. But, the frustration is very real.

I feel you. Anecdotal but I’ve tried to help 3 different people get out of the penalty because they legitimately had to pay their rent over a health insurance premium and I couldn’t do it. 2 of them just haven’t filed taxes for 4 years. It’s so frustrating, that mandate is regressive and punishes a certain segment of the working class.
Also anecdotal but I have to buy health insurance to provide my family healthcare and the plans we can afford absolutely suck and I live in fear of an emergency room visit that will surely bankrupt us. I don’t understand what people are voting for but I have a feeling people don’t really understand either.

Don't really want to recommend doing this but I filed twice without insurance and just said that I did have insurance. I didn't have to send in any proof or anything and I didn't get the penalty. Hopefully if biden wins by the time the reinstate I have insurance.

Really regret staying up until 2:30 am to watch results come in just to get depressed about the results AND get next to no sleep.

  15. I always thought it was the move for various reasons. I have been hoping they make the offer every step of the way to lock that up; after Nevada and SC and now.

I don't see any sign Warren is dropping out anytime soon, honestly. Things could always change, hopefully votes change too. Bernie vols need to go allover Michigan talking about bidens record right now.

  17. I know some Bernie people online are gonna haaaaate this. But it’s probably the right move and needed to be done.

  23. Right, which is why I think a strong endorsement or VP pick is needed to build that coalition before it's too late.
