how do student loans determine the payment period? when you buy a house, you know you're getting like a 30 year or 15 year loan. but with student loans, is there anything in place to stop a predatory lending company to get some kid who doesn't know any better to sign up for some loan that essentially pays nothing to principle each month so they are stuck paying the loan back forever? cause paying loans off for 10 years and only paying like $3,000 in principle is... oof. ridiculous that is even legal

So fucking sick of people in my city bitching about in-person schools being closed, quoting low-death statistics in kids, and saying that parents deserve a choice and that teachers should find employment elsewhere.

Then when I call them out and say I'm scared that my sister with a compromised immune system could die from being forced to teach in her own town and that I think it's gross they don't care, they're back to "who said I don't care!? I said it's a CHOICE. Those who feel uncomfortable should choose otherwise"

From my experience, the loan period is shown and agreed upon when you sign up for the student loan. I knew right away which of the loans I signed up for would be 10 year, vs 15, vs 20 years.

It is disgusting how much they collect from you that doesn't go toward your balance, though

 

With student loans, if Biden gets elected, I think there will be a big push to finally address the crisis in some fashion. What kind of policy or action takes place I have no idea, but I think enough people will be making noise to finally have something happen

 

I think if we’re lucky we’ll get some sort of version of the stimulus idea we got back in the spring. Forgive a certain amount up to a certain income level.

Mayor Robert Carrier said he received news of R.J. Letendre’s firing from City Manager Michael Joyal on Friday.

FUCK THAT. I have a friend that was nearly killed by her ex husband. He’s not a cop but wtf. You’re just supposed to fix your issues after he beats the fuck out of you? Oh that makes me irate.

edit: she spent the night in jail. (Charges dropped) The psycho locked himself in the bathroom before her parents and the cops showed up. Ripped the trim off the wall and hit himself in the head. It appeared his injuries were worse (this time) so she got taken in. Her 3 year old went with her parents and their 3 month old was left in his care for WEEKS before she was allowed to see her.

Yeah it's fucking sickening, and nobody here seems to think we have a problem with police and that it's just in other states.

The police department is pretty much taking no responsibility because that cop lives in a different town so it's outside of their jurisdiction, but then won't say what he did wrong to get himself fired

 

I know you people aren’t big on fighting for “incremental police reforms”, but there’s no fucking reason to not have every police force required to have body cameras
