It’s best to do some full research before cherry picking. Otherwise you’re only entrenching yourself further in your own preconceived notions. In these cases, it is best to be quiet and listen.

 

I never know what the endgame with this kind of shit is. Like, if you came here for people to agree with you, you clearly came to the wrong place. If you want a good faith discussion then be open to criticism. If you just want to stir shit then don't wuss out the second you encounter any pushback.

Again, thanks for being the only one who argue politely. I will try to explain what i meant, because i thing you didn't understand:

"Telling people to calm down and being more upset about riots than the murders and state brutality that triggered that reaction is not a solution."

- I never suggested that. Murders are much bigger deal here.

- No, status quo is definitely bad and classist justice system definitely exists. I tried to say that all protests should be peaceful, which is not always the case. Of course, if police starts shooting at protestants, that's not possible.

My main point is that the only long-term solution to fight racism is denying that the race exist, and to prosecute everyone who discriminate someone because he "doesn't like how dark/white is their skin color". Of course, that can't happen over night, and the system needs to change first. I support the protests, but i don't support violent protests and the fact that everyone who think differently is labeled as "racist". Check out the situation in Belarus. They are gonna overthrow their oppressive leader peacefully.

"Black Lives Matter" should be "All Lives Matter", because i'm afraid that at this rate, African-Americans are gonna start hating innocent white people (who are not racist and don't have to do anything with this stupid regime). You saw what happened in NBA last week when Harrel insulted Dončić because of his skin color? No one bats an eye, and that is what we call a double-standards. We are all equal and we should act like we are, at least if you ask me.

I mean, of course things have "gone too far" in a normal world where people and their rights are respected and not influenced by the biases of other people, but....we don't live in that world. So when the same things happen over and over and over and over and over and over again, and no laws change to address those things in any meaningful way...this is what happens. This is always what happens throughout human history when a government is not taking care of its people.

So yeah, you don't want to see it happening, but eventually you get to the point where it's like....what the hell else can they/we do? No one is listening to black Americans, so of course people are getting pissed and breaking some windows/lighting some fires. You can only put up with the same shit for so long before it blows up. It's the last course of action you can take to try and force some change. Or, to quote MLK, "A riot is the language of the unheard".

Using the Montreal Harrell and Luka as your point is so shortsighted and shows the information you consume. There were multiple former and current black athletes go extremely hard at Harrell for that comment across multiple platforms. People did bat an eye and it was called out for what it was and again shows your hand.

I didn't, and that is definitely a mistake. This is the only foreign forum that i visit, and i just wanted to see what other people think.

Peaceful protests don't prevent white supremacist militias murdering innocent protestors. It may be too late for peaceful protests.

Peaceful protests don't get any attention from the media, protests have been happening weekly, if not daily in major cities since the murder of George Floyd, and those protests only get covered when violence escalates and looting happens. There's a powerful message I've seen online, "You've stolen more from us than we could ever loot." The violence and death against black people in this country is so astronomical that to pretend to care about damage to property as "too far" is a non-starter. Its not even in the same universe as the loss of life.

I've posted about this before, but denying race exists is a white supremacist argument. Race has coded every interaction in this country for hundreds of years, it has been used to subjugate, terrorize, murder, and exploit millions of innocent people. It has also allowed white people to gain an incredible advantage and a large amount of comparable generational wealth. To say now, after all this injustice for hundreds of years, that we're just going to stop thinking about race suddenly and pretend everything is fine, with zero efforts made to atone for past sins, right wrongs, redistribute wealth rightfully earned that was stolen, its just a posturing to make white people feel better without having to return what they have stolen through violence and death for generations.

You are a racist, this whole country is, and until you come to terms with your own mindset and how you've been conditioned and lied to for your own benefit, you won't be able to understand how these systems work and really need to be abolished. Because you will never abolish the systems that benefit you. White people are not innocent, and if you think Luka being called a name and later receiving an apology is on par with the onslaught of black death that has existed for decades, you gotta look inward and deal with why that hurt you so much and why the innocent being shot by people meant to protect them is not triggering you in the same way.
