He has to whisper his answers to her first, and then she’ll nod in approval or shake her head. Then pence can answer.

African-Americans of course being the shapeless mass that can be channeled at will for a +14 Turnout bonus

Sometimes I wonder which party is actually more racist

There are a lot of voters out there to which identity and representation DOES matter though. You can’t treat all voters of a certain race as a bloc but identity will definitely spur some voters to get off the couch

Something that Trump and the conservatives get that the dems continue to fail to is that there are really three groups in the electorate worth reaching out to:

You can get people who weren't planning on voting to vote for you
You can get people who were planning on voting for the other person to switch switch and vote for you
You can get people who were planning on voting for the other person to not vote

Trump can run both the "Biden is weak on crime" and "Harris has a sucky prosecutorial record" because they target different groups. One is designed to shore up his base. The other is designed to erode Biden's.

Dems meanwhile seem to only go for the middle group

Elizabeth Warren as treasury secretary now please.

  17. Have you ever worked on a campaign? Even just some basic phone banking, not even on a national level, would show you how wrong you are about what campaigns work and message for ... like ... this isn't true at all. Any phone message tree would show you this.

Then why to the dems always ignore the left and bend over backwards to appeal to voters in the center?

Because that has historically been where the large majority of votes for the Dem party has been, at least speaking for the last 30 years. Obama shifted it a little bit to a younger and more diverse crowd, but because younger and more diverse voters tend to also not be reliable voters, a lot of the older class of Dems still think that group is secondary in terms of "who can we count on to win this thing".

    It's changing but slowly.

  22. They don't. They message to the left of center all the time. Not in a way that's often going to appease those of us on the extreme end of the bell curve, but they appease the 'center' of that curve the most, because that's where the most voters are. They also message to the right and left as well, with ads, with targeted ads, with policies and speeches, and with voter outreach.

  23. And Warren/Harris voters appear to have a lot of cross sections with that group. The main one being: college educate white women.
