  1. Models are snapshots in time that try to incorporate what we currently know, when variables change: like polls, candidates dropping out, etc., the outcome probabilities change. They can't really predict for events we don't know about and haven't happened. (Yet?)

Convincing people who say they don’t care about politics to vote is fun

I highly doubt any reporter cares enough about the country to purposely contract corona and give it to Trump

The ideal is to use retrospective data for prospective purposes. 538 is the most likely to do that given how refined their model and inputs are.

I literally just hope I can convince my 9th graders every year that voting is super important and they need to do it 3 years later when they can lol

Though I’m in line to get AP Government next year so at the very least I’ll have a chance to convince 20-35 kids of voting age every year to go vote!

My wife taught AP gov to seniors and hated it. The class is fine but seniors are apparently tools of the devil.

lol yeah they check out pretty early in the year...BUT I teach 4 classes of lower level 9th graders so I will take AP level seniors and be extremely happy about it hahah

Hm. More reasonable than some other polls.

But still, Bernie wants ANY chance at all at this, he cannot lose Michigan by double digits.

I really hate this kind of bullshit because such “establishment” people very often ARE sellouts and, more importantly, are openly antagonistic towards anything to the left of them. Where are the articles talking about how the establishment should rally around Bernie instead of the other way around? It’s the very pervasive idea that the Dems have been incredibly corrupt and shitty over the course of decades that causes someone like Bernie to become so popular
