I was pulled over right before Christmas in 2018. I was stopped at a red light with my blinker on to turn left. After the green light, I proceeded through the intersection and into the appropriate lane. A cop coming towards me did a full uturn in the middle of a 4 lane road to pull me over. When I was stopped and he approached my vehicle the officer asked me if I was aware that I did not stop for the red light. I gave him my DL and registration and politely stated that I was stopped at the red and proceeded safely when it was my turn. He said “uh huh. I’ll be right back” and he went and ran my license. When he came back he asked “Did you not see the car in the intersection? I’m going to give you a warning for failure to yield because if your light turns green before they clear the intersection you need to yield until they do even if your light is green”

I accepted my warning and told him I hope he has a good Christmas. And when I drive away I said to myself “So I WAS stopped?!”

To think that this interaction could have been completely different if I wasn’t a white female makes me so ill.

One time I was driving home, at the speed limit, with plenty of distance between me and the car in front of me. There was a police car in front of that car, he literally pulls into the breakdown lane, and as soon as I go by he throws his blues on and pulls me over.

He said I was speeding and driving erratically, and very close to the guy in front of me. Was given a field sobriety test, passed, and they scared the shit out of me until he called his buddy cop who was way more sympathetic and let me go. It was like midnight and I just wanted to get home to sleep for work the next day

We also now have a cop in my tiny village of 300 people. I was pulled over recently for rolling a stop sign that I absolutely did because I was late for work and it was out in the country. Justified. Received another warning.

He also had no idea what an urgent care was and asked me 100 questions about where I work (a MAJOR hospital system in our area that basically has a monopoly on our local healthcare) and 100 more questions about if I had drugs or weapons in the car.

this same cop pulled over my 78 year old neighbor in front of my house for rolling an in town stop sign. This is on my camera facing our cars/road and he had his hand on his weapon while approaching her vehicle. Poor woman was shaking. And what I didn’t realize until then, that cop most likely had his hand on his weapon as he approached my car 3 days earlier.

Where do you get these devices that let you scan police equipment and black out their signal?

One time back in high school my parents were out of town so I threw a house party. We got a little wild in the back yard around the bon Fire. I got tipped off that one of my neighbors called the police, so since we were underage and some of us had been drinking, the party dispersed.

a little later my friend calls me. As the cars were leaving, the cops pulled only him over (he’s bi racial and straight edge) while my other friends drove off without incident. They grilled him about ‘disturbances in the neighborhood’. After 20 minutes of questioning him, running his plates, etc, they finally let him go. They never even showed up to my house. My friend was pissed, and so was I. Really was an eye opener for me.

Omg I’ve heard of this but didn’t know it was real. Scaring people into getting off the exit where they were actually stationed. This should be illegal.

My brother in law is autistic and nonverbal. He was playing in the playground behind my in-laws’ house. We look outside and see police tasing him. They said he wouldn’t respond to them and thought he was on drugs.

Trump's conspiracy theory about the guy in Buffalo is utterly mind-boggling. How in the FUCK can you see that video and think ANY of the things that tweet conveys? OAN should not be allowed to exist.

100%. Id never even heard of it and scared the fuck out of us. One of our friends who did get pulled over has his med marijuana card but apparently that county doesn’t recognize medical weed or something and since it’s right off a busy highway they do lots of shit to catch people with weed for police reasons

I had a night where I used my dads car and he had a headlight out. Over the course of that night, the second headlight went out. He also had taken the registration out to do some insurance stuff and my wallet had been stolen that week. So I got pulled over twice with:

    A car I didn’t own
    No license
    No registration
    No head lights
16 years old with a 16 year old girl
    Out of state

I got no tickets and received a police escort to safety since I didn’t have lights.

    White privilege defined lol
