This is a scenario that I've been thinking about for a while now.

Although I think there is a solid legal argument for this law, I don't expect SCOTUS to allow it.

However, in the event that they do, Trump could easily use this as justification for something drastic. Suspending the election. Refusing to acknowledge the outcome, etc.

It could be a massive (and potentially dangerous) inflection point.

 

Yeah that law will mean nothing and it will just give Republicans another excuse to use when they lose the popular vote. I can see it now, “he wasnt on ballot in Cali of course he lost the popular vote!”
